The learning platform is growing. The unit sales are declining, but that's the direction the company wants to go.

Super friendly. The friendliest non-judgiest people I've ever worked with.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at O'Reilly Media?
I would try harder to figure out why we don't get more diversity in our applicants.
What are you most excited about working at O'Reilly Media?
Building a better learning platform.
What benefits does O'Reilly Media provide?
I don't know much about how to evaluate benefits, but when talking about them to others, people tell me I have it good.
How's the work life balance at O'Reilly Media?
I once suggested I should finish something up on the weekend and everyone, including my managers, said "No!".
How's the vacation policy at O'Reilly Media?
Really great. Sick time doesn't count against vacation, and we have a week off after Christmas.
How's the work pace at O'Reilly Media?
Probably depends on your team, but for me it's just fast enough to stay motivated, but not uncomfortable. I can rely on my managers to make sure the work assigned is achievable in a reasonable amount of time.
What's the best part of your job at O'Reilly Media?
Working with talented, competent, and **kind** people.
How challenged are you at O'Reilly Media?
The work is challenging because it's a big system with a lot of moving parts, but we also support each other very well. We are also encouraged to challenge ourselves when setting our goals.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at O'Reilly Media?
Not difficult at all.
How can I improve my chances of being hired at O'Reilly Media?
Good communication skills are very important since we are a distributed team.
How secure do you feel at your job at O'Reilly Media?
Secure enough that I haven't thought about how secure I feel.
How's the morale at O'Reilly Media?
I can only speak to the engineering team, where morale seems to me to be well above average. Everyone seems to like each other and have confidence in each other. Communication is very open.
What's the office layout like at O'Reilly Media?
Pretty open at the Boston office. Not sure about Sebastopol, but probably the same. Many of us work remotely.
How much diversity is there among employees at O'Reilly Media?
Some, but not as much as I'd like to see. I do know we are trying very hard to improve it. The culture is certainly inclusive, but I guess we have some things to learn about encouraging diverse applicants.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining O'Reilly Media?
There isn't anything I've learned that would have changed my mind about joining. The most surprising thing though is how much we change things around.
