A finding of fault from an assessment of our compensation system indicated that the granualarity of job descriptions and titles was very poor. All compensation is based on your job title, yet everyone is lumped into such large categories your skills, degrees, and productivity are averaged away.

Management needs to treat employees with respect as individuals and not as interchangeable cogs in a machine
Fire the current lab director and hire someone that understands the job and people.

Consistency in policy application, ability to make decisions without so much control, ability to hire staff in support positions to alleviate extreme work load.
It takes months from applying to get a phone call. Months from the phone call, to get an in-person interview. Months from the interview to get an offer. It takes more than 6-months. The hiring staff are not knowledgeable or consistent in their statements.
Better communication. The process took too long and there was a big black hole with no communication.
