The main IT offices are downtown in the Market Square Building. They are standard cubicles which is "meh" but there are some perks like a treadmill workstation you can sign up for, yoga at lunch, creativity lunches, fosball and a lady pacman game. So they are trying for a lighter atmosphere.

There are a mix of engineers, technicians, business analysts and project managers. As has been my experience throughout my career in IT, most engineers are on the arrogant/autistic side but are tempered by a progressive work environment.

  • The health benefits are very generous and cover more preventative modalities than in the past (massage, chiropractic, needling). Dental and vision benefits are also very comprehensive. I have worked at OHSU for 10 years though so I am not sure how they compare as far as employee costs. Vacation and sick are just ok. In ITG there is a growing acceptance of working from home once or twice a week and that makes life a bit easier. There is a bike to work incentive and low cost shower and storage facilities across the main campus and waterfront locations, I don't know about other locations. There is also a very nice Tri-Met discount, I believe it is over 50% less than full price. And of course if you are a technology fan, the tram is super cool!
