Mr. Brian Pawlowski serves as Chief Architect and Vice President of Pure Storage, Inc. Prior to Pure Storage, Mr. Pawlowski served as Senior Vice President of NetApp, Inc. (a/k/a Network Appliance Inc). Mr. Pawlowski served as Chief Technology Officer of NetApp, Inc. Since joined NetApp in 1994, Mr. Pawlowski has been involved in the design of high performance, highly reliable storage systems. He has worked on open protocols for storage since an earlier position at Sun Microsystems. He started the Advanced Technology Group at NetApp in 2004 to conduct storage research. Additionally, Mr. Pawlowski has been driving the Open Source strategy at Network Appliance, defining NetApp's community engagements and directing funding to open source efforts, such as FreeBSD, Linux and Xen, critical to NetApp's customer's success. He is a Member of the board of the Linux Foundation and Co-Chair of the NFS Version 4 working group at the IETF. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Anita Borg Institute. Mr. Pawlowski led the design team for NetApp's first SAN product and holds several patents related to that work. He was Co-Author of the NFS Version 3 specification.
