Mr. Harris E. DeLoach, Jr., has been the Executive Chairman of Sonoco Products Company since March 2013 and has been its Executive Director since 1998. Mr. DeLoach served as the Chief Executive Officer of Sonoco Products Company from July 2000 to March 2013, Chairman of the Board since April 20, 2005 until 2013 and served as its President from July 2000 to December 3, 2010. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hilex Poly Company, LLC since 2000. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Sonoco Products Co., from April 2000 to July 2000 and served as its Senior Executive Vice President from 1999 to 2000, Executive Vice President from 1996 to 1999, Group Vice President from October 1993 to 1996, Vice President of Film, Plastics & Special Products from February 1993 to October 1993, Vice President, High Density Film Products Division from 1990 to 1993 and Vice President of Administration and General Counsel from 1986 to 1990. He joined Sonoco Products Co. in 1985. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Novolex since 2000. He has been a Director Goodrich Lighting Systems GmbH since 2001. He served as an Independent Director of Duke Energy Corporation since 2012 until May 5, 2016. He served as a Director of Goodrich Corp., from April 17, 2001 to July 2012. He served as an Independent Director at Progress Energy Inc. (alternate name: Carolina Power & Light Co.) from 2006 to July 2012. He served on the Board of Directors of Bank of Hartsville. He served on the Bank of America Advisory Board (Hartsville). He is the President of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics Foundation. He was Chairman of Hartsville Rotary Club, Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce and Darlington County Bar Association. He was Chairman of Coker College Board of Trustees and Thomas Hart Academy Board of Directors. He was Chairman of Byerly Hospital and Byerly Foundation Board of Trustees. He was the Chairman of The Palmetto Business Forum. He was the Chairman of South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. He is Vice Chairman of the University of South Carolina Business Partnership Foundation. He is a Member of the University of South Carolina Law School Partnership Board. He is a Member of Presbyterian College Board of Trustees. He is a Trustee of Duke Endowment and The Palmetto Institute Board. He served on the Board of Directors of Darlington County School Board. His honors and awards include: Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, Coker College; Distinguished Alumnus Award, Moore School of Business, 1998; Distinguished Alumni Award, University of South Carolina, 2006; Citizen of the Year, Rotary Club, 2006; Distinguished Citizen Award, Pee Dee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 2006; Businessman of the Year, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, 2008; Townes Award, South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, 2009; Laureate, South Carolina Business Hall of Fame, 2010; and Will Woodham Business Person of the Year, Hartsville Chamber of Commerce, 2013. Mr. DeLoach holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina in 1966 and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1969. He has Honorary Doctorate of Law from Coker College and Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Lander University in 2008.
