There are very few women in the engineering department.
It is never diverse enough. Though what qualified women we do see get hired. There is no sexism here.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Sonus Networks?
I'd like to see some of the architecture types be a bit less risk averse.
What part of Sonus Networks's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Fastest growing is our SBC line. The legacy product is our GSX line.
What's the interview process like at Sonus Networks?
Phone screen followed by an in-person interview. If anyone doesn't like the candidate they are shown the door. The more people you talk to the more likely it is we like you. Higher positions may involve recalls.

That depends very much on the interviewer and the position. Expect to talk a lot about code.
What are your coworkers at Sonus Networks like?
Very professional and competent. It's one of the reasons I've been here 10 years.

Professional and supportive. In general it is low stress.
What are you most excited about working at Sonus Networks?
There is a lot of legacy code around here. I love the challenge of adapting yesterday's architecture to today's cloud model.
How's the work life balance at Sonus Networks?
I have a lot of kids. Sonus has been very understanding about the demands my family on my time. Like I said previously, all they care about is that the work gets done. Not that i was in at 8am on a particular day.

It has been merit based from what I've seen.

They do a good job of making sure you are fairly paid according to industry norms.

Very challenged. It's one of the things I like the most.

Not very common at all.

No job is 100% rewarding. But on the whole the experience has been very rewarding.

They use an annual review process. The managers I've worked for give regular feedback positive or negative throughout the year.

How secure do you feel at your job at Sonus Networks?
That is a very good question with the upcoming merger with Genband. I never feel my job is in jeopardy but you never really know.
What's the best part of your job at Sonus Networks?
The people I work with. Hands down.
How's the work pace at Sonus Networks?
Intense like everywhere else. The feature list never ends.
What are the team outings like at Sonus Networks?
Facility dependent. Here in Westford they rent out a local park for a cookout. The facility has mini-golf, driving range and boats.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Sonus Networks?
Not hard at all. I am allowed a good deal of freedom with my work hours. They only care that the work is getting done.
