Q&A With Southern Farm Bureau Employees

Asked to the IT Department at Southern Farm Bureau

  • The IT leadership team in the Colorado division is run solely by one man who is at the end of his rope. He's overwhelmed and constantly has a bad attitude berating folks that are trying to keep the department afloat. He's afraid to explore new technology to make the companies day to day processes run better and yet takes the word of the inexperienced BA/SA whom has no knowledge of how the real world works or other technologies that exist because he's been in the same position for 20+ years. They should gut out the entire IT department / that is if everybody doesn't leave first for their own piece of mind.

Asked to the IT Department at Southern Farm Bureau

  • The environment is absolutely terrible and childish in the Colorado division. The director of IT is also the Director of Accounting, so no IT experience what so ever. The hours were long, work 8 hours a day and then work another 4-6 hours every other night doing patching and batch accounting processes which should not even be touched by anybody in IT. The DBA/SysAdmin holds both titles and yet doesn't do any of the after hours stuff and rarely does anything SysAdmin related besides locking down others permissions making it harder for anybody to do their job. This place is a joke and is stuck in the 19th century with outdated technology because the folks in IT don't want to support "New" unknown technology. They're scared of spending money on technology and even worse talent. You should work here if you like being berated and emotionally abused. They're lucky I didn't file a lawsuit on them. Worst experience of my life hands down.
