Mr. John Knight has been an Executive Vice President of Global Strategy & Business Development at Statoil ASA since January 1, 2011. Mr. Knight served as Managing Director and Head of European Mergers & Acquisitions at Chase Bank USA, National Association (formerly, Chase Manhattan Bank USA). He has worked in investment banking since 1987 where he has held a number of senior management positions. He served as the Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Natural Resources at UBS AG (also known as Union Bank of Switzerland), and also served as Managing Director and Head of European Oil and Gas at Citigroup Global Markets Limited (United Kingdom) (also known as Schroder Salomon Smith Barney). Previously, he was a lawyer, initially in private practice at the English Bar and subsequently at Shell International Petroleum Limited in London. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at UBS AG and also served as the Chairman of Conduit Ventures Ltd. He serves as Member of Corporate Executive Committee of Statoil ASA. Mr. Knight was educated at Emmanual College, Cambridge University where he obtained a degree in law and at the Inns of Court School of Law in London where he qualified as a Barrister.
