Mr. Richard P. Teets, Jr., also known as Dick, Co-Founded Steel Dynamics Inc. and has been its Executive Director since 1993. Mr. Teets served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Steel Operations at Steel Dynamics Inc. from August 2008 to March 31, 2016 and served as its Executive Vice President for Steelmaking from August 2008 to March 31, 2016. He served as Consultant of Steel Dynamics Inc. since March 31, 2016 until December 31, 2016. Mr. Teets was responsible for steelmaking operations of Steel Dynamics, including the Flat Roll Division and The Techs. He has steel industry spans 30 years and includes engineering and management experience in both integrated and mini-mill steelmaking. He served as an Executive Vice President of Steel Dynamics Inc. from May 1, 2007 to August 2008. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Steel Shapes and Building Products, a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics Inc. from May 1, 2007 to August 2008. He served as General Manager - Structural and Rail Division of Steel Dynamics from 1993 to May 2007 and served as its Vice President since 1993. Mr. Teets worked with Nucor Corporation, which he joined in 1987. He holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College in 1977 and an MBA from Duquesne University in 1982.
