At TaskUs, we pride ourselves on being a diverse and inclusive global company. Our Diversity & Inclusion programs are designed to empower our employees to be their true selves, without the fear of being judged or discriminated against.
Across all of our geographies, our teammates are encouraged to self-identify within our records and indicate their sex, gender, preferred pronouns, race, and veteran status. We’ve also created Employee Resource Groups or ERGs based on employees’ identification.
Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led organizations that exist to provide a safe space for minority or underserved identity groups and ally supporters. ERGs are dedicated to the professional development of its members, driving positive change inside the workplace through education and awareness, and contributing to the communities where our employees live and work. ERGs are inclusive and welcome all TaskUs employees.
GlobalWellness@TaskUs ERG
Aside from forming different ERGs within each site, we have a global ERG headed by different teammates across all of our geos—the GlobalWellness@TaskUs ERG.
At TaskUs, wellness is not just about one’s physical health but also holistic well-being. This is why the ERG aims to inspire lifestyle changes that improve the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of our teammates.
Early in 2021, the ERG spearheaded an inter-site competition called the 21-Day Healthy Habit Challenge. Teammates from different sites across the globe competed for the highest percentage of participants continuously practicing healthy habits for 21 straight days. They were free to choose among reading, moving or exercising, and acts of kindness or gratitude as their healthy habit. Our TaskUs Taiwan site was hailed as the grand winner of the challenge.
North America
In 2020, the killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery shook everyone. As a company with African-American and biracial employees, we knew we had to take action and make sure our employees felt safe and were given the resources to cope with the situation. TaskUs leadership, led by our CEO Bryce Maddock, initiated a focus group discussion with our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) teammates to know their thoughts, emotions, and feedback on making TaskUs safer for everyone.
This also gave birth to the TaskUs George Floyd Memorial Fund. Through this, different ERGs globally can apply and get the funding they need to conduct outreach activities and seminars/webinars to educate themselves and other employees about the importance of diversity, inclusion, and allyship.
Black@TaskUs, was our very first TaskUs ERG. Still very much active, the group aims to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through proactive and reactive initiatives targeted to the Black community, support local charities and organizations through the promotion of collaborative events, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities, and establish a platform for future black leaders and allies through networking and mentorship.
Women@TaskUs, for both US and Mexico, focuses on empowering women to find strength in each other, leverage their collective power to achieve success on their own terms, and cultivate a new way of thinking to build a trustworthy and safe environment where women are protected inside and outside the workplace. They invest in education and career development for women, raise awareness among our employees about the concept of equity, foster personal and professional growth through mentorship, and lobbying for gender equity in policy and procedures at TaskUs.
Latinx@TaskUs, on the other hand, aims to inspire everyone by embracing heritage, acknowledging the strengths of all walks of life, and breaking social stigmas through education and advocacy. One of their main objectives is to have educational opportunities about past and present-day topics to build empathy and understanding for Latinx communities.
ERGs in the region continue to grow. Aside from Black@TaskUs, Women@TaskUs, and Latinx@TaskUs, two other ERGs are currently being formed by our teammates—the Veterans@TaskUs for our US Army Veteran teammates, and the LGBTQ@TaskUs for the LGBTQ+ community.
Other D&I programs in North America include our participation in Martin Luther King Day. In 2020, our San Antonio employees participated in an MLK March.
Philippines
TaskUs Philippines has more than 18,000 employees (as of 2021). Among the D&I programs our teammates enjoy are all-gender restrooms, HMO or health benefits insurance for same-sex partners and their children, SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression) talks, participation in Pride month celebrations, empowering our PWD teammates, daycares in our sites, and the Unicorns@TaskUs ERG.
The Unicorns@TaskUs ERG used to be a small interest group formed by our LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. Now, it has expanded to a greater cause—to cultivate a safe and inclusive environment within and outside the workplace that empowers the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to collaborate, thrive, and take a stand against discrimination and social injustices.
The group does not only aim to recognize individual differences regardless of one’s SOGIE, but it also monitors and lobbies for company policies and benefits to align with the needs of our LGBTQIA+ employees. The Unicorns@TaskUs ERG proactively scouts and partners with different groups and communities to spread and support LGBTQIA+ awareness.
To date, Unicorns@TaskUs has more than 430 members across all Philippine sites. The ERG is open to all LGBTQIA+ employees and allies.
Taiwan
Taiwan is the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2019. This prompted TaskUs Taiwan a year later to participate for the first time in the Taiwan Pride Parade led by the Equal@TaskUs ERG.
The mission of Equal@TaskUs is to help, inspire, and empower people experiencing inequality in the workplace and beyond. They aim to do it by reviewing current policies and practices in the workplace, providing recommendations on resources to read online and holding campaigns where Taiwan employees can participate, and joining the training of local institutions such as Taiwan Gender Equity Education Association and Modern Women’s Foundation.
TaskUs Taiwan is not only providing jobs to Taiwanese but also to different people who seek employment in the country. The team is highly diverse, with employees from Thailand, Japan, and other countries in Asia.
India
TaskUs India takes pride in having a lot of women leaders: 22% of leaders are women, significantly higher than India’s industry standard of 9%. And we continue to make strides with GenderEquality@TaskUs ERG.
The ERG focuses on promoting and fostering a culture that appreciates equality and creates a community free from discrimination. One of the group’s main objectives is to have a gender ratio of 50:50 with a targeted hiring approach and to inspire women employees to strive for improved work-life balance.
During the 2020 Women’s Month, TaskUs India celebrated it through a Yoga Session headed by a female instructor, a talk discussing women’s achievements spearheaded by TaskUs India women leaders, and a forum on gender sensitivity and how everyone plays an important role to have a safer community for all.
