Mr. McCarthy served as Vice President of Finance at Cigna Corporation from February 2003 to July 2013. He served as Acting Chief Financial Officer of Cigna Corporation(CIGNA) since September 1, 2010. He served as Vice President and Treasurer of CIGNA Corporation. Since 2003, Mr. McCarthy has been responsible for CIGNA's strategy and corporate development function, which includes mergers and acquisitions and corporate risk management. He has many years of experience. In 2008, he was named treasurer and added responsibility for corporate finance, capital management and the treasury operations and in 2009, he added responsibility for the tax function. He began his career at CIGNA in 1980 and served in various financial and underwriting positions. He served as Senior Vice President of Kemper, a property and casualty insurer from joining in 1999 to 2003. A graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. McCarthy holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
