Mr. Philo T. Pappas has been Executive Vice President of Global Sourcing Operations at The Michaels Companies, Inc., since June 1, 2017. Mr. Pappas served as an Executive Vice President of Category Management at Michaels Stores, Inc. since May 21, 2016 until June 1, 2017 and served as its Executive Vice President of Merchandising since February 2009 until May 21, 2016. Mr. Pappas served as Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer of Tweeter Home Entertainment Group Inc. from April 2003 to October 2008. He served in various management positions at Staples, Inc. from November 1994 to April 2003, as Senior Vice President of Merchandising. Mr. Pappas joined the now $11 billion Staples when they were a $3 billion company with 300 stores in 1994. He has experience growing a company while maintaining gross margin, lowering product cost and increasing inventory turn. Mr. Pappas was responsible for leading all of the annual Staples vendor negotiation strategy sessions. In addition, he was instrumental in the development and growth of the Staples private label brand. Prior to joining Staples, he spent eight years with Lechmere in progressive merchandising and inventory management positions.
