View ArticleAll Time Timer products use the same alert sound when timing is complete. However, there are differences in how you use the end-of-timing alert based on what product you are using. Click here to listen an example of the Time Timer alert.
Alert Loudness
The Time Timer alert is set to 60 decibels (the unit of measurement to signify the intensity of a sound). 60 decibels is roughly the same intensity level as a normal conversation.
On/Off Switch
All sizes of the Original Time Timer and the Time Timer MOD both have an On/Off switch to control the audible alert. When the switch is in the Off position, no audible alert will sound when timing is complete. When the switch is in the On position, an audible alert will sound for a few seconds when timing is complete.
Volume-Control Dial
All durations of the Time Timer PLUShave a Volume-Control Dial on the back of the timer. This dial controls the volume (i.e. the loudness) of the audible alert when timing is complete. The dial can be turned all the way down and the alert will not sound when timing is complete. When the Volume-Control Dial is set to the loudness of your choice, an audible alert will sound for a few seconds when timing is complete.
The Time Timer iOS, Android and Desktop Apps all have adjustable volume controls for the alert, or the alert can be disabled entirely. Read how to set an audible alert for iOS here and read how to adjust the volume for this alert here.
Always Active

View ArticleAll Apple Watches fall asleep after 15 seconds. Luckily, your timer will continue to run in the background even if your watch is asleep. When your timer is up, the watch will vibrate, ding and bring a visual alert up on the watch face.
View ArticleYou can set the volume standards both on the watch or the paired phone.
To set it on the Watch:
Open the Settings app
Swipe with your finger, or turn the Digital Crown (the round button on the edge of the watch) to scroll down to “Sounds & Haptics”
Ensure the Alert Volume is, say, 50\%. Tapping on the speaker icons will lower or raise the volume of the alert. Alternatively, you can turn the Digital Crown to change the volume.
Ensure Silent Mode is off.
Scroll down to “Haptic Strength”. It has three settings: off, medium (1 bar), and strong (2 bars). Make sure it’s not off.
On the paired iPhone:
Open the Watch app
Tap “Notifications”. Scroll down the list of apps until you find Time Timer. Ensure its notifications are enabled (switch is green).
Tap on General. Check that “Do Not Disturb” mode is off, or if you’re Mirroring iPhone, the scheduled time is out with the hours you’re testing the app.
Tap the back button twice until the title bar reads “My Watch”
Tap on “Sounds & Haptics”. Changing the Alert Volume here will produce a test click sound on the Watch. Note that setting the volume here doesn’t change the slider on the Watch, so it’s possible to have the Watch Alert Volume at 100\% and the same setting on the iPhone at 0\%, and you won’t hear anything. Setting Alert Volume to 50\% should be sufficient.
Check the “Haptic Strength” setting below “Silent Mode”. This setting mirrors the same on the Watch - changing it on the phone will immediately change it on the Watch and vice versa.
Ensure Silent Mode is off. Like the “Haptic Strength” setting, this is mirrored between Watch and iPhone.

View ArticleEvery physical Time Timer uses a quartz crystal to drive a mechanism which moves the colored disk as time elapses. This quartz mechanism is what is used in household clocks and is very accurate and the reason we chose this mechanism for Time TimersEvery Moment Counts!
The true duration of your timer can be seconds shorter or seconds longer from where the timer disk is originally set.The Time Timer accuracy guide is as follows:
Time Timer PLUS 5 MIN and 20 MIN: +/- 15 seconds.
All 60 minute Time Timers: +/- 30 seconds
Time Timer PLUS 120 MIN (including the 120 Make Time edition): +/- 1 min
This level of accuracy is actually quite impressive! Many common mechanical timers can have variance up to 3 full minutes! In addition, many other timers require the user to set a timer for a minimum of a 10 minute duration before the timer can even begin.
Another factor for timing variance can be your Time Timer's battery life. If you're experiencing slow timing or no movement of the disk at all, you should replace your timer's battery.
If you've changed the battery and your Time Timer is still off by more than the accuracy guide suggests, please contact us to request a replacement.
For the curious:
Many time-of-day clocks also use a quartz crystal for time keeping, but because these clocks consistently count forward, they remain rather accurate.
