Executive Bio

Ms. Julie K. Xanders has been an Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Tribune Publishing Company since August 2014. Ms. Xanders served as an Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Los Angeles Times Communications, LLC. She served as a Senior Vice President of Los Angeles Times Communications, LLC since August 1998. She joined Times Mirror in 1993 as Corporate Counsel for Times Mirror Cable. At Times Mirror, she was Assistant General Counsel since 1995, Associate General Counsel since 1997, Deputy General Counsel since 1998 and Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the Los Angeles Times since August 1998. Prior to joining Times Mirror, she worked for four years in private practice with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as an associate attorney. She served as a Secretary of the Board of Directors of Los Angeles Times Communications, LLC. She serves as a Vice President of the Times Mirror Foundation and is a Director and Secretary for the Los Angeles Times Foundation. She serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Southwestern University School of Law. She is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. She was Chair of the Executive Committee of the Corporate Law Departments Section of the Los Angeles County Bar. She is a member of the California State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Ms. Xanders earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Boalt Hall School of Law (University of California, Berkeley) and has a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Yale University where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected Phi Beta Kappa.
