We are aware that the number of reports of this issue has greatly increased since the release of Choose Your Own Apocalypse. A disconnection (Error Code 3) or an attempted reconnection that times out (Error Code 4) seems to be a barrier to some people.
We have isolated a few areas of concern and will be performing some network optimizations as we continue to support the game.
In the meantime, we suggest trying to ensure your connection is as strong as possible and use direct connections to your router or modem. People with stronger connections seem to experience the issue less. Once you start experiencing the issue, we also encourage you to close the game and relaunch before attempting a reconnect to the host.UPDATE: We have isolated one source of the problem. We are thoroughly testing the fix to ensure it does not have widespread effects. We apologize for the delay, but hope to have this out to you soon.

If you are unable to launch the game or otherwise reach the Settings from the main menu, please do one of the following:Xbox One: A) Select My games & apps after pressing the Xbox button; B) Select State of Decay 2 from the list and press the Menu button; C) Select Manage game & add-ons from that menu; D) The version should be in the upper right corner;

View ArticleThis could be for a number of reasons. The simplest check is to make sure your internet connection is active. Then, make sure that the hosting player has their Multiplayer options enabled in the Settings menu. Additionally for each platform, multiplayer will not be available if Xbox Live services are limited or down. You can check on that status here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status
If you are on Xbox One, ensure that you have a Xbox Live Gold subscription. Multiplayer will not function as the host or guest without one.
If you play on PC, make certain you do not use Alt+Tab excessively. Using this can put the game in a suspended state that will terminate any active multiplayer session. View ArticleEarlier this year, we released a new story campaign forState of Decay 2, calledState of Decay 2: Heartland.
It returned players to Trumbull Valley, the setting of the original game, and introduced a brand new set of unique characters, as well as revealing a secretive faction of military scientists calling themselves Echo Lab.
This update takes some of our audience's favorite weapons and outfits fromState of Decay 2: Heartlandand introduces them into the core game for free.
The Guns of Echo Lab
The high-end firearms used by the military scientists of Echo Lab during their foray into Trumbull Valley have been smuggled out and restored for use by civilians. It is unclear whether Echo Lab is aware of this, or whether they will have a problem with it once someone tells them. These firearms include:
Restored Echo-S1 Revolver(.22 Caliber)
Actions speak louder than words. The same cannot be said for this nearly silent pistol.
Restored Echo-S2 Rifle(.22 Caliber)
He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared ... such as with this integrally suppressed rifle.
Restored Echo-S3 Shotgun(12 Gauge)
Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.
Restored Echo-S4 SMG(9mm)
The strongest of all warriors are these two Time and Patience. Of course, Silence is pretty good too.
Restored Echo-S6 Pistol(.45 Caliber)
It has been said that an empty vessel makes the loudest sound. I assure you, this pistol is no empty vessel.
Restored Echo-S7 Assault Rifle(5.56mm)
This weapon proves the adage that silence is a source of great strength.
The restoration work is top-notch, and these weapons are mechanically identical to their counterparts inState of Decay 2: Heartland. All six are available via the Bounty Broker.
Trumbull Valley Fashion
We've added 30 new outfits (6 models, 5 variants each) based on the clothing worn by characters inState of Decay 2: Heartland. Two are unlocked immediately, and the rest are available via scavenging or the Bounty Broker.
Trumbull T-Shirt
Keesha's original "shadow skull" T-shirt is unlocked automatically.
Four more variants with local Trumbull Valley logos are available via scavenging, primarily at vehicle-related sites.
Rumpled Jacket
Larisse's original striped shirt and green jacket combo is unlocked automatically.
Four more variants are available via scavenging in houses.
Tattered Suit
Quincy's original bloodied suit is available from the Bounty Broker.
Four more (cleaner) variants are available via scavenging in houses.
Leather Trenchcoat
Helena's original black leather ensemble is available from the Bounty Broker.
Four more variants are available via scavenging, primarily at police and military sites.
Biker Vest
Brock's original "deer skull" vest is available from the Bounty Broker.
Four more variants, including Reba's dusty grey vest, are available via scavenging at vehicle-related sites.
Lizard Hoodie
Diana's original "chameleon" hoodie is available from the Bounty Broker.
Four more variants, each in a different color, are available via scavenging in a variety of places.
Quincy Maxwell as a Facility Mod
We've also added the Improvised Weapon Station, a facility mod that can be installed anywhere in your base. This unlocks the weapons that Quincy could craft inState of Decay 2: Heartland, including:
Danforth Slugger(Blunt)
A Network-affiliated maker named "PapiEdgar_11" perfected and shared a simple process for filling an everyday wooden bat with lead, without losing durability.
The resulting weapon delivers high-value strikes on a shoestring budget.
Trumbull Gatekeeper(7.62mm)
Originally designed by a Network-affiliated gunsmith known only as "Cletus", the pattern for this modified Model 70 rifle has spread virally from community to community. Its owners swear by its reliability and versatility.
Features a scope, an expanded internal magazine, fast-cycling bolt, and homemade suppressor, making it perfect for the lone survivor looking to kill a lot of zombies without drawing too much noise.
Network DIY Assault Rifle(5.56mm)
After I gave up on finding exact replacement parts for repairing firearms, I started getting ... creative. This baby might not be much too look at, but she's got it where it counts.
Masterwork Assault Rifle(5.56mm)
I've been setting aside components for this ... a double-drum magazine, high-end optic, and hand tuned trigger group should make this as effective as a military-grade machine gun.
Loot Changes
While placing the new outfits into the loot system, we made another couple of changes.
Rare outfits are now much more likely to appear, once you have already found the more common variants. This should help address the plight of players who have struggled to scavenge for their last few outfits.
Clients can now find outfits as loot in all three maps, rather thanonlyfinding them in Cascade Hills.
Repair Kits can now be found at Auto Shops, because of course they can.
A version of theGolden Vulture(Brock's ridiculous gun) can now sometimes be found in police evidence lockers and abandoned bags, or may be sold by the Mysterious Wandering Trader.
A firearm once owned by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Perhaps in your hands, it might signify something.
This gun isvery rare, so please don't get your hopes up.

View ArticleHeartland
Heartlandis the firststory-based content updateforState of Decay 2. It returns toTrumbull Valley, the iconic location presented in the originalState of Decaygame, revisiting familiar people and places to see how theyve been changed by the ongoing apocalypse. It is available to all Game Pass subscribers, and can be purchased from the Microsoft Store.
In addition toHeartland, we have also made a following free upgrades to the coreState of Decay 2experience:
Inventory
We've expanded the range of actions you can perform in your inventory in different contexts:
While in a vehicle, you can now drop items and break open rucksacks.
While looting a container, you can now unequip your weapon or a weapon mod.
While the supply locker is open, you can now repair or salvage items in your personal inventory.
While the trade interface is open, you can now unequip items.
While the vehicle inventory is open, you can now unload weaponsand break open rucksacks.
The "Take 1" action in the Inventory interface can now be used to take the final item in a stack.
You now hear an error sound when attempting to use an unusable item via the Inventory screen.
Blood Plague
Curing a survivor's blood plague is now more user-friendly.
You can now treat survivors who are merely fighting an infection, before they develop full-blown blood plague.
When you talk to an infected survivor, you have a new "View Treatment Options" action that reveals how long they have left to live.
After you select that action, the usual "Exile/Euthanize/Administer" options appear, and work as before.
If you have cure in your inventory, you'll use it to cure them. If you don't, you'll see an option to use cure fromtheirinventory.
If you decide not to act on their infection, you can back out to the original set of dialogue actions (like "Enlist Follower" and "Switch to this Character").
Miscellaneous
A handful of rare crashes, arcane mission blockers, and minor typos are no longer a problem.
Stabilizing Foam now costs zero meds to use, but you do still need to be at home to use it.
Hostile icons no longer come randomly unglued from characters' heads.
Water disturbance effects no longer continue after zombies are killed.
Bloater Gas in a car is no longer lethal to zombies outside the car.
Knowing how to fish no longer makes you sad.

The Apocalypse Keeps Getting Better
As the year draws to a close and the nights get longer and colder (at least on our side of the globe), its common to exchange gifts... which means thatEVERYBODY GETS A WIZARD VAN!
After updating the game with the new patch, use your radio menu to call in the delivery, and moments later youll be riding in style. (Its okay if you didnt get us anything. We know were hard to shop for.)
But the fun doesnt stop there! This update also features plenty of improvements to the experience of playing State of Decay 2, including several fan-favorite suggestions. We've highlighted themost exciting itemsin each category, but we recommend reading the whole list to see all the changes.
Thanks for your support, and well see you in 2019. Until then, keep playing State of Decay 2!
Highlights
We made several balance changes to the Daybreak rewards CLEO guns are better, CLEO ammo can be crafted, and Red Talon contractors are cheaper ... though a bit more unruly.
We added some new facility actions you can craft Ammo, Meds, and Food, and you can teleport gas cans and repair kits straight into parked vehicles.
We amped up the benefits of allied enclaves, and added the option to dismiss trader enclaves when you're trying to summon a new one and there isn't any room for them.
We added the ability to use simple consumables while in a vehicle.
We bumped up the size of zombie hordes late in the game.
Daybreak Mode & Content
CLEO guns have been rebalanced to make them more valuable in the base game.
All CLEO guns are 20-40% lighter.
All CLEO guns (except bolt-action rifles) are 15-25% more durable. (Bolt-action riflescan'tbe more durable than they already are.)
All CLEO guns (except pistols) are about 20-30% faster to reload. (CLEO pistols were already unusually quick.)
CLEO ammo is now much easier to acquire in large amounts, though it still always costs prestige.
The Red Talon Crafting Station allows you to manufacture CLEO ammo at will, spending prestige, circuitry, and Ammo from your resource stockpile.
The CLEO Relay now offers a CLEO Drop alternative that delivers 8 stacks of CLEO ammo.
We worked with members of the community to rebalance Red Talon contractors, so that they are no longer 100% overpowered. Now they are more like 85% overpowered.
Existing Red Talon contractors now have the potential to run wild and waste resources if their morale is low.
Existing Red Talon contractors are now "Irritable" towards others, which makes them more likely to start fights when their morale is middling to low.
However, we also changed the threshold that causes "Irritable" characters to fight, so that fights happen less often, across the board.
Newly-recruited Red Talon contractors now come with minor downsides tied to their fifth skill. Hackers snack more than other people, Logistics experts use up extra bed space for storage, etc.
Red Talon acknowledges that attrition has made their pool of recruits shallower, so they now only charge 2750 prestige for their contractors (down from 3250).
In summary, if you keep your morale high, your current Red Talon contractors should be just as awesome as they've always been but it's more important now to keep maintaining that morale. New contractors now have minor drawbacks, but they also cost less.
We now refund the full prestige value when you reject a Red Talon recruit. This removes the old incentive to exploit the system by restarting the game. And it's just nicer. Thanks for playingDaybreak.
Ferals should no longer occasionally enter a "T-pose" when moving through the environment.
Hostile NPCs should now properly trigger the detonation of deployable minefields they stumble into.
Followers should now properly follow the player when in the vicinity of a deployable minefield.
We improved performance and reliability of VO playback during various moments in the game.
Gameplay
Many simple consumables can now be used while in a vehicle.
This includes bandages, painkillers, and other consumables that don't involve throwing, placing, or playing a complex animation.
Consumables thatcannotbe used within a vehicle are now shown as unavailable in the HUD while you're inside a vehicle.
Allied enclaves now offer a greater variety of more powerful enclave benefits, to make the time spent befriending and supporting them more worthwhile.
Late in the game, zombie hordes can now be up to three times as large as before. (You asked for it ...)
When summoning a trader over the radio, you will sometimes have the option to dismiss an existing trader to make room for them, if that's what it takes to get them into the map.
Ranged weapons no longer jitter in your hands as you aim left and right.
A new option in the Gameplay section of the Settings menu allows you to ensure that no weird zombies (such as clowns, coneheads, and war reenactors) appear in your game.
We fixed a bug related to rapidly placing explosives that could result in premature detonation and character death. Sounds painful.
We increased the size of safe zones created by clearing large sites to more accurately encompass their area.
Survivor traits that reduce the number of required beds should be accurately counted by morale system.
We fixed an exploit that prevented hostile enclaves from defending their base when mines were planted in the area.
We solved a rare crash that could result when destroying a plague heart with ignited bloater gas.
Zombies should show up more often inside buildings while you are exploring.
On the other hand, random zombies should now NOT show up inside an infestation that you've just cleared.
Any attempt to pick up stackable items from the ground now tries to pick up all items in the stack.
Facilities
You can now produce Ammo, Meds, and Food at your base with the right facility and ingredients.
Meds are produced in any Infirmary from parts, chemicals, and ethanol.
Ammo is produced in any Workshop or Armory out of parts and chemicals.
Food is produced in any Kitchen by spending seeds and ethanol (yum).
You can now use your Parking facilities to move gas cans and toolkits directly from your community's inventory into parked vehicles.
The Infirmary now uses characters' nicknames, instead of their full names, making it consistent with the rest of the game.
Missions
Missions that involve searching dead bodies or killing zombified humans now pinpoint the corpses with icons on the minimap, rather than requiring you to hunt for them near a marked location.
We resolved an exploit that let players cancel Threatening to Leave missions by quitting and restarting the game.
We fixed a potential case where some NPCs in an enclave would not be visible during an objective to kill them all.
Graphics
We "tightened up the graphics" to achieve higher and more consistent resolution and frame rate on the Xbox One.
We improved the camera transition when moving into or out of a crouch while zoomed in.
We reworked our anti-aliasing system to reduce ghost outlines and blur artifacts when rotating the camera.
Lens flare effects are now smoother and crisper.
Multiplayer
The Multiplayer section of the Settings Menu now has options for voice chat, and is generally awesomer.
Most notably, we've added a push-to-talk option, and left it unbound for players to assign as they wish.
On a controller, we recommend D-Left (Emotes) if you want to swap out something that doesn't directly impact gameplay.
When a player speaks over in-game chat, their player indicator pulses to indicate which character is talking.
When a client is tethered to a host who is driving a vehicle, they now land in a passenger seat in that vehicle, rather than being dumped by the side of the road like garbage.
We fixed a rare case where the host would think a client's character died if they sustained many injuries, healed, and then sustained more injuries.
We fixed a rare crash bug that could occur when an Xbox client joined a UWP host just as the host is completing the search of a building.
You can no longer make progress toward the Citizen Z achievement by using the "Stuck" radio command, or by choosing and then cancelling the "Volunteer" or "Call for Help" commands.
Interface
We reworked the use of icons in the HUD and the Character Panel, so that the icons that pop up next to the Health, Stamina, and Infection meters can be followed all the way into the deepest menu to find out what they mean.
The "Show HUD" and "Show Notifications" options in the Settings Menu now consistently turn on and off their respective UI elements.
We clarified the visual language of the infection meter, to make it clear that you are progressing from a minor infection towards full-blown blood plague.
On PC, the game will now recognize any plugged-in controller as belonging to the player, rather than specifically requiring the designated "Player 1" controller.

Other Changes
Technical
We made major improvements to multiplayer stability, across the board.
We made subtle advancements to our hair shader, improving the way hair looks under different lighting conditions.
We fixed a bug that was hard-locking the game if you continued too soon after exiting to the main menu.
We improved general stability and fixed some rare crashes.
Items
All backpacks have been renamed to tell you what color they are. This should make it easier to coordinate backpacks with your new outfits!
Recruits from military enclaves now carry a variety of different-sized military backpacks, instead of always having the same one.
Radio Commands
TheRecruit Military Survivorsradio command was just a stopgap until the arrival of Customizable Outfits. Now that you can dress your entire team in tactical uniforms and combat helmets, we've disabled that command.
Military enclaves will still continue to spawn naturally at a low rate, even without the radio command.
We removed blind spots from theLocate Plague Heartradio command that were making it very difficult for some players to find and destroy their final Plague Heart. If you're stuck there, try it again after the update.
We fixed a problem that made some rucksacks obtained via radio commands not count towards bounties and other mission objectives.
Gameplay
We fixed a bug that made it impossible to cure some survivors of their second case of Blood Plague, after they had already survived it once.
We fixed a bug that would lock you out of your ability to use a gun if you aimed too soon after dropping a mine while walking.
Missions
We fixed some progression blockers in the early missions that would halt them awkwardly if you performed actions out of order, such as healing your sick community member early by unexpected means.
We removed the option to deny the Wilkersons their bomb-making materials inLocal Personalitiesbecause it broke continuity in the story and didn't offer much value to the player community.
We fixed a progression blocker inVic: Reconnectingthat would strand those characters without a mission if you quit partway through recruiting one of them.
We fixed a progression blocker in the missionAction Hero Returns: Explosive Consequences.
View ArticleUnfortunately, there is no easy path for upgrading at this time. The Ultimate Edition must be purchased separately. Alternatively, the Independence Pack and Daybreak Pack are purchasable individually through either the Windows store or the Xbox store.
View ArticleThis is a smaller update that packages the newGo Bag Weapon Packwith some minor upgrades and bug fixes, including:
An improvement to the catapulting-vehicle situation.
A fix allowing clients to heal the technician inDaybreak.
A few fixes for progression blockers in missions.

M-Dart 986 Revolver(9mm Revolver)

There is a new Coming Soon tab on the Bounty Broker interface that lets us drop hints about our next release.
The Bounty Broker interface now accurately displays the weights of weapons with attachments.
Cash Beaumont is no longer vulnerable to players who like to throw zombies at him again and again.
The stealth-focused Police Sniper Rifle bounty now requires you to use quiet weapons, not just be crouched while killing zombies.
Cash Beaumont is now a little bit more chatty than he was before.
Gameplay
We reworked our physics systems to make it less likely that a vehicle will explode or fly away upon repair.
We fixed an issue with the new Dodge keybind that was causing it to fire off a dodge even when players pressed it while in a menu.
We fixed a fun bug that caused players to walk in the sky when they triggered a remote explosion while sliding down a ladder.
We fixed a bug that was preventing multiplayer clients from healing the technician inDaybreak.
We fixed some issues that caused players to get stunned when their friend attacked a zombie they had grappled.
We fixed an issue that was causing some fast-search attempts to stall out.
We refined search audio, adding container "open" sound effects to most container types.
Missions
We fixed faulty objectives with the following missions, some of which were causing progression hangs:
Sheriff: Winning Allies
Sheriff: Loot Dispute
Demand for Food
Demand for Ammo
Final Offer
We fixed an issue withHelp WantedinHeartland, which was blocking progress if the player quit the game with Brock dead.
Miscellaneous
We also did further work improving the stability of the game.
View ArticleWe have had some luck working around this issue by entering into a multiplayer session, using the community experiencing the infinite load time. Follow these steps:
Enter a friends session while on the main menu, selecting the affected community and the active character in that community.
During that session, switch away from the character you were using when you first encountered the load problem.
Return to your personal game. You should now be able to access that community.
However, we have also noticed that the area of the map in which the issue occurred can cause the issue to recur. It is best to complete the legacy for any community experiencing this particular problem, while avoiding the section of map in which it occurred (if possible).
View ArticleWe are aware that there is the occasional problem with people being able to start their Legacy missions after defeating the last Plague Heart on the map. You will know you have defeated the blood plague in your zone when your Primary Objective changes to Promote a Leader or Define your Legacy. It is also communicated that all Plague Hearts are defeated through character dialogue. The character will say something about this Plague Heart being the last one. There is also generally some chatter about defeating the blood plague after its defeat.
If you are certain you have defeated the blood plague, then we are aware of a couple of situations in which players can be blocked from starting their Legacy mission.
The first scenario is that there is an active Leader mission (or sometimes a mission for another community member's personal arc) for someone in the community. Start that mission - you can complete it or abandon it - and that should get you started.
The second scenario is not as well defined. That said, it seems that eliminating some enclaves from the map will usually get the Legacy missions started.
If neither of these things starts your legacy, please submit a request and we will try to gather more information.

The Bounty Broker Update introduces abrand-new mechanism for earning new gear, abrand-new weapon pack, along with other major improvements, including:
Large reductions to load timesand to thesize of the game on the hard drive.
Gameplay improvements tododging, using items, andtargeting interactions.
An oft-requestedre-balance of the Red Talon recruits.
A restoration of the long-lostmilitary character models.
Details are listed below.
Bounty Broker
The Bounty Broker is a new character who provides you with a straightforward way to try out new gear as it is added to the game you just have to complete a few jobs for him first. Here's what you do:
Track the Bounty Broker down at his van in Cascade Hills, Drucker County, or Meagher Valley.
Talk to him to see a catalog of available gear, and the bounties you must complete to earn it.
Select the bounties you want to pursue. They appear in the upper-right corner of your HUD, and persist across all your communities.
Complete the bounties and return to the Bounty Broker to receive the promised gear as your reward.
Once you've unlocked a piece of gear, you can buy additional copies of it for Influence, in any community.
The initial catalog features bounties that unlockthe new Critical Response weapons (listed below).
We also included the World War II weapons from the previous pack, unlocked by default for everyone. This replaces the Historical Weapons Dealer, who will no longer appear.
Critical Response Weapons Pack
The Critical Response Weapons Pack is a celebration of police and firefighters in the wake of the zombie apocalypse. It includes the following weapons:
Firearms
Police Sniper Rifle (5.56mm Scoped Rifle)
RC-9 Police Carbine (9mm Sighted Rifle)
Police M590A1 (Pump-Action Shotgun)

General
Community Request:We significantly improved load timesacross the board, particularly on the Xbox, significantly reducing the time it takes to get into the game or into a new map.
Community Request:We significantly reduced the footprint of the game on the hard drive, as well asthe download size offuture updates. (The update thatgetsus here is still pretty big.)
We now provide a direct link tosupport.stateofdecay.comin the Settings menu (under "Help & Support") for players who run into bugs and other technical issues.
It also includes a QR code, if you prefer to get there via your phone.
Gameplay
You now use the direction of your camera (instead of your character's facing) to choose which interactive object to target.
This makes some situations (like entering the left rear door of a vehicle instead of refueling it) much easier to get right.
There is a new option on the Settings/Gameplay menu to change it back if you liked the old way.
There are new keybinding options that allow you to split Dodge and Stealth onto separate buttons. If you want to try it out, here are some approaches we like:
On the keyboard, we recommendC for dodgeandG for stealth.
On the Xbox controller, we recommendB for dodgeandclicking the Right Stick for stealth(giving up zoom functionality for scoped weapons)
Using items like painkillers, grenades, and mines is now much more reliable and responsive while moving and dodging.
Dodging while tired or injured is now quicker, and you can follow up with another action sooner.
Inventory
Community Request:You can now hold the "Drop" button in your inventory to drop only one item from a stack. Ideal for sharing consumables with friends.
Community Request:We added safeguards against modded "glitter bombs" leaving a million Parts in hapless supply lockers.
You can now unload weapons in supply drops.
The game no longer claims that you can unload the weapons in a trader's inventory, because that would be rude.
Characters
Frequent and Emphatic Community Request:You can once again meet and recruit survivors who dress in green military clothing, many of whom have military backgrounds and skills. Here is where you might encounter them:
The classic storyline about a disaffected soldier in a military enclave now features survivors in military clothing, as it did when the game was first released.
Any ambient mission now has a small chance of spawning survivors in military clothing.
For a limited time, we are offering a "Find Military Survivors" radio command, allowing theverypatient military enthusiasts in our audience to staff up much faster than normal.
Community Request:We re-rebalanced the Red Talon Contractors and Soldiers as follows:
They are no longer irritated at everyone all the time.
We reduced the downsides associated with the Combat Medic, Pioneer, Squad Cook, Demolitionist, and Facilities Engineer backgrounds.
Killing zombies with explosives grants a small amount of XP towards the Chemistry, Munitions, Outlaw Chemistry, and Bomb-Making skills.
Survivors with the last name "Castellano" no longer show up with a blank nickname.
Missions
Builder: Elbow Roomis now better at finding applicable bases, and has safeguards against getting stuck when it fails.
Warlord: Weapons for Allnow allows you to spare the last enclave member without getting stuck.
We fixed a bug that sometimes preventedWarlord: Personal Dead Zonefrom completing.
Builder Legacy missions now automatically pin to the HUD.
Heartland
Heartland-specific specializations for core skills now gain experience as intended. This fixes Butchery, Field Testing, Gymnastics, Obsession, Scavenging, andVigilance.
We fixed some voodoo that was causing Reba, Diana, and Chavez to reset their timelines when they died, starting over from scratch. Now the only way they can rise from the dead is as zombies.
We fixed a blocking issue in the first mission if Quincy or Larisse died, and then the game was restarted.
Aunt Fi and Helena should no longer run to you from Jurassic Junction ifWilkerson Family TiesorSeeking Santosstarts while the player is away.
Aunt Fi should no longer teleport away at the beginning ofA Real Fixer Upper.
Scenes inWilkerson Family Tiesshould now still play, even if Aunt Fi is dead.
Malik no longer jumps in and speaks Larisse's lines inWilkerson Family Ties.
We made sure Brock and Keesha were killable when they should be killable in the Santos and Wilkerson enclave arcs.
We fixed another place where Malik could become immortal while playable.
We fixed an issue where theOverrunmission would still make you clear out the plague heart if you canceled it.
Xander's enclave should now have appropriate enclave descriptions on the map screen.
Achievements
We fixed several Achievements that the game was failing to award progress for, including:
Legacy Achievements
Be Still My Dog of War
I Am the Law
Speedy Delivery
If You Build It, They Will Come
Plague Heart Achievements
Heart of Darkness
Total Eclipse
What We Do in the Shadows
These Dreams
Other Achievements
Barley and Spoiled Blueberries
Sayonara
Miscellaneous
Eight months after delivering the Holiday 2018 celebratory Wizard Van, we realized we should probably remove it.
If you die of blood plague while exiting a vehicle, you will now stand up and die instead of soft-locking the game.
We fixed an issue with AI pathing that was causing mission characters to dodge around you repeatedly while trying to stand where you were.
We fixed an issue where clients in multiplayer games would hear muffled audio forever after they died.
We fixed a few graphical issues with shadowing, especially with halo-like artifacts around characters.
We fixed many minor issues with lighting and world geometry.

View ArticleUpdate 11.1 is a hotfix aimed at resolving a few minor issues:
We fixed a problem that was causing some clothing items to land in your inventory instead of being added to the closet.
If you have any stored clothing items as a result of this bug, adding them to your inventory now should fix them and add them to your closet.
Characters on the Community Screen now arrive all at once, as intended, rather than loading in piecemeal, starting with their hats.
We also fixed abug that would cause vehicles to experience physics problems on roads right after the tutorial.
View ArticleWhat you're playing at home, from our point of view, is one specific version out of tens of thousands made over the lifetime of this game's development. It happens to be one which was subjected to increased scrutiny, but new versions are available to us internally multiple times per day, each one with a few more hours of work from some subset of the studio in there; tuning changes, new content, new systems, bug fixes, and inevitably, new bugs.
When we build a new version, we take all the code, art, data, and other components of a game and assemble them into the thing you're actually running at home. There are literally thousands of factors that make each version different from the next, which can make bugs easier or harder to reproduce. We have teams across multiple offices who are always actively looking at the build and coming up with reproduction steps and potential solutions. Some of them slip through and we apologize for that.
We thank you for your continued support in notifying us of issues you see.
View ArticleYou will need to bring up the Radio Command screen in order to get unstuck. On a controller press Up on the D-pad. On a keyboard, press the O key. Select the Stuck button at the bottom of the list. After a few seconds, your character will be shifted to another location.
This function also works for vehicles. While inside the vehicle, follow the same instructions.
View ArticleWe've taken another step in our ongoing quest to keep listening to community feedback and improving the game. This time, the big-ticket items are:
Over a dozennew weaponsfrom the World War II era.
The ability todemote a leaderwithout exiling or killing them.
Newicons to help you find charactersyou're trying to exile or demote.
The ability totransfer items into the base from every inventory slotat a parked vehicle.
The ability tounload ammunition from weapons in your inventory.
Check out the detailed patch notes below.
World War II Weapons
Community Request:We've added a new set of classic weapons from the World War II era:
M1918 BAR
M1A1 Thompson
M3 Grease Gun
Surplus M1911
M1917 Revolver
M1903A4 Sniper Rifle
M1 Carbine
M1 Para Carbine
M97 Trench Gun
There are several ways to get these new weapons:
There is a new antique weapons trader who shows up occasionally to sell them (appearing at the same rate as the other traders).
These new weapons can also be looted from the same containers as other standard guns in the game. Gun stores are a great place to look.
Characters with an interest in historical weapons can also spawn with them. (Look for traits likeRifle Collector,War Reenactor, and the newWorld War II Buff.)
Community Request:We also added four special variants that can only be found in the rare weapon containers hidden across the maps:
Barrow Style BAR (a cut-down M1918 BAR)
Gangland Strad (an M1A1 Thompson with a drum magazine)
Graveyard Shift (an integrally-suppressed M3 Grease Gun)
T4/M2 Carbine (a fully-automatic variant of the M1 Carbine)
Demoting Leaders
Community Request:You can now demote your leader from the Community Screen without having to exile them or get them killed.
The process is the same as for exiling a character. First you mark them for demotion, then you speak to them in person.
The demoted character's standing drops to Citizen level, and they suffer a temporary Morale penalty.
Community Request:When you exile or demote someone, they are now given a distinctive marker in the world and on the map, so you can easily find them to complete the process.
Characters
Community Request:Nonplayer characters are now a lot less aggressive towards nearby enemies while talking to you.
They will still defend themselves if attacked, but they won't break out of a conversation to chase a zombie that is across the building from them.
Community Request:When you switch characters at an outpost, your old character now teleports home, rather than heading out on foot and probably dying (at least in the harder zones).
Community Request:When you switch characters with your flashlight on, your new character starts out with their flashlight already on.
Abandoned followers no longer teleport directly over your head like drop bears.
We fixed a bug that was preventing characters from getting nicknames based on their last name.
This fix unlocks ahugelist of nicknames that were not available before.
This fix also unlocks more nickname options for cops, soldiers, and other characters who go by really long or uncapitalized last names that historically haven't fit well into the UI or the mission text.
Facilities
The Sort Ammo action at the Storage facility has been rebalanced to make some of the rarer ammo types more common. Now you should generate:
About twice as many .357 rounds as before.
About 50% more .44 and 7.62mm rounds.
About 15% more 5.56mm rounds.
About 25%fewer9mm rounds (to make up for it).
Upgrading an Infirmary or Clinic no longer ejects its Blood Plague patients, which was causing their death timers to quietly resume. Survivors now remain checked-in after upgrades.
TheScrum Certificationskill now grants a speed bonus to the building of facilities, in addition to its original speed bonus to other facility actions.
Items
Community Request:Quick-Repair Toolkits have been rebranded as Advanced Toolkits, and they now repair twice as much damage as standard Toolkits.
Their crafting cost and rarity are unchanged. They're just better now.
Community Request:Deployable Pyro Minefields now spawn with the correct rocket pods. They can set zombies on fire again.
Community Request:In response to players finding certain crossbows overpowered against Plague Hearts, we've reduced crossbow damage across the board (though headshots against zombies are still always deadly).
Crossbow bolt impacts no longer play inappropriate audio.
Characters with appropriate traits now have a chance of initially spawning with a crossbow.
This includes the newCrossbow Huntertrait.
Unbreakable items no longer drop from Plague Hearts in a damaged condition
User Experience
Community Request:You can now hold Y (controller) or R (keyboard) to unload the ammunition from the magazine of a weapon in your inventory, so you can store it or use it elsewhere.
Now when you're transferring items from a vehicle inventory to your base, you can do it fromanyslot in your inventory, not just the vehicle slots.
When playing with a mouse, you can now click the empty leader slot on the Community Screen to initiate leader selection, rather than having to press the spacebar.
Community Request:We fixed a bug that was preventing freaks from appearing on the mini-map inDaybreak.
Map icons for optional mission objectives have been recolored to stand out more against the background.
Entering a site while in a vehicle no longer prevents room-clearing pips from appearing on the mini-map.
If you interrupt a subtitle by conversing with an NPC, and then exit the conversation while the original line is still playing, the subtitle comes back, too.
Multiplayer
Incoming clients now land in the host's vehicle, if the host happens to be driving at the time.
Bonuses to influence gains now apply to multiplayer rewards, in addition to standard in-game earnings.
Nonplayer characters no longer fall through the world or spawn in the sky when exiting vehicles.
Getting tethered with the map open no longer traps you on a black screen.
We fixed a bug so that clients can now interact with built-in facilities after the host settles a new base.
Community Request:Players can no longer throw Bloater Gas Grenades at other players and then disconnect, causing the damage from the grenade to suddenly kick in. Explosives of all kinds now disappear when the character that triggered them goes away.
Dread and Nightmare Zones
Community Request:Hostile humans in Nightmare Zones are now a bit less deadly with firearms.
Now when you suffer a headshot, you are protected from additional headshots for a short time afterwards.
The remaining sliver of health has doubled in size, leaving a bit more room for you to escape with your life.
TheTrue Gritachievement is no longer triggered simply by rolling over to Day 100 while in a Dread or Nightmare zone, even if most of those days were spent in a Standard Zone. Now you must spend all 100 days in a more challenging zone.
Communities that are already in Dread and Nightmare zones when the update is installed will still be credited according the old rules.
Difficulty descriptions no longer continue to display unnecessary warning text after you change difficulty.
We fixed a crash that would occur if you managed to switch difficulties when your last survivor was dying.
Other Stuff
Windows with multiple panes now break as you would expect, rather than quietly violating the laws of physics.
We fixed a bug that was causing the game to begin without the characters or the world fully spawned in.
We fixed a crash that occurred when a character was killed after being exiled.

Walls no longer show interaction icons when they do not need to be repaired.
Lightly-damaged walls now show yellow (not orange) repair indicators.
We added a waiting screen for clients to keep them from spawning into Daybreak before the host.

The loadout screen now remembers your last equipment selection.

The cooldown between Red Talon recruit attempts has been reduced by half.
Red Talon contractors will no longer have their trait lists disrupted by new traits gained through conversation nor by Starvation, Frustration, and other temporary effects.
Red Talon contractors with the Combat Medicine skill now offer Medical Advice, just like real doctors.
The Warfighting skill advertised that it caused all shots to pierce enemies, but this wasn't true. Now in the main game, itistrue. In Daybreak, it stillisn'ttrue, but we're not advertising it anymore.
Gameplay
The aim camera no longer hitches when zooming in and out with a scope or sight.
NPCsno longer become hostile when dealt damage from sources that weren't hostile to them.
NPCs no longer react negatively when you accidentally point a gun in their direction.
Your character is now onlyimpressed by a scavenging location when itactuallyhas a lot of searchable containers.
Your character no longerreacts to every suburban house like it's a prime outpost opportunity.
We fixed an issue that was making it extraordinarily difficult to walk instead of jog using the analog stick.
Community
It may not have been clear in the previous Patch Notes that we now store only the 50 most recently used legacy characters, instead of stacking them up endlessly. This was necessary to reduce save sizes and prevent data loss. We are currently working on further improvements to this process.
When you delete a community, any characters within that community who have completed at least one legacy are now saved.
Negative traits gained through conversation have had their negative impacts reduced, and in many cases, removed entirely. You can feel more confident bringing followers into the field.
We fixed several skill specializations that were not responding to experience-rate buffs.
We fixed an issue where we would display a mood description for a character that wasnot as sadas their actual mood.
We fixed some hero bonuses, traits, and other attributes whose effects were being ignored specifically, Durability Loss Per Shot, Durability Loss Per Hit, and Food Consumed Per Day.
We fixed a crash that could occur when the final member of your community died after finishing the final legacy mission.
Facilities
The Sniper Tower now offers a passive 2 to Threat Level, and a new option to spend 2 ammo to reduce Threat Level by 6 for an hour, while training the Shooting skill.
The Bell Tower at the Church on the Hill and theAnnouncer Box at Whitney Field now trigger genuine sieges when used to reduce Threat Level at thebase. To balance this out, their Threat Level benefit has been slightly increased.
You now need to interact with the storage facility directly to withdraw a rucksack, rather than teleporting them magically onto your back from across the map.
We now properly check the Cooking skill when upgrading the Kitchen 1 facility to Kitchen 2.
TheScrap Materials For Partsaction now awards Craftsmanship experience, as intended.
The Bike Generator no longer accidentally incurs a fuel upkeep cost, so cyclists are apparently no longer drinking gasoline.
We fixed a cost mismatch when employing the Pathology skill to craft theBulk Plague Cureitem, versus individual Vials of Plague Cure.
We no longer award free Influence when changing maps, since you now arrive with a free base instead.
The Infirmary text now more accurately describes recovery from injuries and trauma.
You can no longer repair the same weapon multiple times in a row without damaging it first.

The inventories of your parked vehicles now come with you when your community changes maps.
Dropped items now display in-world icons to better indicate what they are, as well as their current condition.
Plague samples are now dropped as individual items, not as containers, making them quicker and easier to pick up.
The interaction prompt on dropped plague samples now says "Take Plague Sample" instead of "Interact".
Vials of Blood Plague Cure now cure early-stage infections, without needing to wait until you develop full-blown Blood Plague.
We fixed a bug where Remote Rocket Pods and Deployable Minefields dealt no damage to vehicles. They now deal a small amount.
We fixed the stack count for Piles of Weapon Remains to be the standard 3 not the 99 used for crafting items.
Triggerable items, such as C4, are now set off in roughly the order in which they were placed. While most of these items are still set off simultaneously, some of them (such as remote rocket pods) will interrupt the chain, as they must be detonated individually.
Consumables that provide an effect over time will now display while active over the health and stamina bars.
Missions
Allied enclaves ask for help (and risk leaving the map if you ignore them) about half as often as they did before.
When you interact with an NPC, the dialogue options now always pop up immediately, rather than sometimes waiting for a VO line to finish.
Personal leadership-related missions no longer automatically override your current mission in the mission HUD.
Several story-driven enclaves have new trade inventories specifically themed to their specialties.
Starting characters are no longer shown as belonging to the same community until after you've completed the tutorial.
We fixed cases where the "Warlord: Notice of Eviction" mission could accidentally be abandoned.
Multiplayer
We've refined the experience for clients depositing rucksacks for the host. Now anyone can make a deposit, either at the Storage facility or at a Parking Slot, and everyone is rewarded appropriately with Influence.
Clients now gain appropriate progress for Achievements earned while in the Host's game.
We clarified the error message for when a Client interacts with an NPC while the Host is also interacting with that same NPC.
We clarified the error message for when a Client attempts to claim an outpost or home site while in the Host's game.
We removed some jittery behavior of players and icons when riding together in vehicles.
UX
When you open a vehicle trunk while carrying a rucksack, the cursor defaults to the rucksack in your possession (if there's room in the trunk to store it).
When you die, and you only have one remaining available character, we now auto-switch you to that character, rather than having you choose from a list of one.
Pressing the View or V button will now close the Community Screen, even when you are zoomed in on a character.
The car-flip icon now consistently shows as inactive whenever flipping is impossible.
Help Tips no longer show over dialogue.
Graphics
Billboards and signs now stream in their high-res textures at a greater distance they look better from farther away.
The visuals and audio for automatic gunfire now line up much better than they did before.

Patch 2.1 Highlights

The mission "Builder: Make Your Own Gear" can now be completed if the player has a built-in Machine Shop at their base.
Characters on the Community screen now re-orient correctly when changes are made to the community.
Newly selected leaders are now positioned correctly on the Communityscreen.
Fixed an issue where sometimes newly recruited community members would overlap or be standing too close to others on the Community screen.
Characters now properly gain experience in their close combat specialization when fighting with their close combat weapon.
Characters who have earned at least 1 star in their Gunslinging specialization are now able to snap-aim with the [ A] button as expected.
The in-game Independence Pack purchase confirmation banner no longer eagerly pops up with every player session.
Fixed several missions that occasionally couldn't be completed due to missing items (such as Lost and Found: Search for the Mace, Eagle Eye: Sniper's Stash, and the various resource-scavenging Radio Menu missions). These missions should now properly place the necessary items in the world.
View ArticleFunnily enough, these things are apparently quite adept at hiding from players and Red Talon surveyors alike. Patch 4.3 features two fixes for rare, but significant issues that drastically impacted the game experience, along with some "run in place" bugs that were plaguing our zombies and NPCs.
Fixes
Fixed an issue where the game would hardlock after the player destroyed a plague heart, or in situations where there was an abundance of plague zombies. We believe this was also causing crashes and hard locks in Daybreak.
Made a number of changes to address the save issues that many players were experiencing. (Save files were becoming too large to upload to cloud saves.)
Zombies no longer visibly run in place when grouped together near a lot of objects.
Fixed an issue that caused zombies and NPCs to appear to run in place when the player was inside a vehicle.

Patch 4.1 addresses some Daybreak bugs that surfaced during early sessions, along with a few other random issues that had cropped up.
Key Highlights
A minor scripting error caused our new and improved resource loss events to behave just like the old ones, which was not an improvement. Now they actually behave as intended, with resource losses depending on low Morale and negative Traits.
We made some changes to address the bug that caused an audio blowout and loss of all sound. This problem is stubborn and elusive, so please let us know it you encounter it again after installing the update.
Daybreak Fixes

The Survey Mode prompt should no longer follow you into a friend's game and awkwardly hang around.

Daybreak Fixes

Fixed an issue where, if a player in Daybreak looking at the shared inventory disconnected, other players were blocked from accessing the inventory.
You can now properly deliver the special "standing execution" move unlocked by the Heroism skill. All that Red Talon training has to be worth something, right?
The Tactics skill now properly allows a character in stealth to silently open locked doors.
Red Talon recruits who are euthanized no longer remain static in a standing position. Because that's just a little TOO disciplined.
Players will no longer automatically (and erroneously) unlock the "Cargo Cult" achievement while downloading Daybreak.Building the CLEO Relay Facility is how you get it now, as originally intended.
It's no longer possible to accidentally place the Red Talon Watchtower facility into a slot that prevents your survivors from actually being able to get inside the facility.
Bloater gas clouds in Daybreak now play their proper audio every time. These guys may be deadly, but they're not silent.
The description text for the Remote Rocket Pod now clarifies that you can only detonate one of them at a time.
Other Fixes
Fixed a soft lock that would occur if a player died (via injury) while entering a vehicle at the same time. It sounds weird and hard to pull off, but it was totally happening.

Exiles should now always count towards exile-related achievements.
Characters from other enclaves will no longer receive the large-scale death-banner treatment when they die.

Fixed an issue with theWarlord: The Informantmission, which was not counting vehicle kills.
Fixed an issue with theBuilder: The Call Is Answeredmission, in which some enclaves would flee the player's home site.

Zombie kills with vehicles should now count towards zombie-killing achievements.
