ASU employees are enrolled in a pension fund. Many companies only provide 401k's, so there is a big difference in how employees are compensated.
vacation policy is great versus industry
The ability to have flexibility in my schedule.
The retirement deal is very good
Review from Engineering Dept
We're underpaid, most of us. Rolling out the boilerplate that we get tuition benefits etc gets old and hollow, especially when from folks making 2x or more than we do.
Typically employees below director level are paid 20-25% below what they would in the private sector. It's too much money to leave on the table if you are young and ambitious. They need to bring pay up a lot. Saying we get free tuition for ourselves and 75% off for dependents doesn't matter to us.
I am underpaid (even for working at ASU) and there's no path forward built into my department. Our "merit raises," if we are deemed worth a merit raise, don't even keep up with inflation. My director doesn't reflect back in ways that make you think he hears you and very defensive if critique occurs.
Higher wages would make me feel more valued
ASU wages are very low. They try to make up for it by highlighting the great benefits and free tuition.
Company needs to provide annual salary increases to, at the very least, account for the cost of living increases. Company needs to pay at market value if it wants to keep up with competitors
