I believe we are headed in the direction with our leadership. I think some of the reorganization of Engineering and the IPTs has strengthened the Engineering team.

First off LOVE THE 9/80!!! Our department allows people to flex some time and not everyone in the department actually starts and ends work at the same time.

Work history and experience in various aspects of my career. Familiarity with UA avionics equipment as well as other vendors.
How helpful was your Engineering team when you were first hired at Universal Avionics Systems Corporation?
It took time to build relationships with the off-site Engineering groups but everything got better with time. My group supported me and made me feel welcome and mentored me.
What's the work from home policy like at Universal Avionics Systems Corporation?
LOVE IT!!!! UA gets some free time out of me working from home but it is more than fair exchange for not having to commute. Our department has been fully functional working from home and Teams was an absolute player in the success.

I was drug tested but I am not certain if a background check was performed.

I've never heard of anyone complaining so I would have to say they must be doing something right.

UA is trying to be cutting edge with several products. We just haven't crossed the finish line with some of the newest products.

I've seen many promotions lately in company email and of course merit raises. The employees can measure company success with new innovative products and further development in the existing product line.

How are layoffs handled in the Engineering department at Universal Avionics Systems Corporation?
For the one layoff during my tenure I think the company had to protect itself. Unfortunately people and friends are part of the casualties but it is for the greater good of the company. Of course this is the opinion of someone who was not part of the layoff.

Again, you can only have so many leaders. I think the departments are balanced and promotions do happen when opportunities are available.

Follow instructions and learn everything you can about your position. UA does recognize performers through promotion and/or merit time.

Maybe every few months the Employee group puts on something and then, as mentioned before, the holiday party.
What perk or benefit should Universal Avionics Systems Corporation have?
I think the Elbit purchase of UA had many people thinking the "small company" atmosphere would disappear. Under the new management, many perks and benefits continued. I think the company is generous and I think the gifts and prizes at our holiday functions have continued the employees appreciation of UA.
What is the best advice you could give someone during their first month at Universal Avionics Systems Corporation?
You are going to possibly be overwhelmed. Stay the course and you will get through the initial storm. Our products span a wide spectrum and people may not be familiar with all of them. Take the internal training classes if made available. I did.

My department is business casual. Pants and a collared/golf shirt. Other departments vary.

I haven't seen any pets in the hallways. I'm going to assume allowances would be made for service animals but I have never researched this.

I don't know if this would be considered an outing, but the Family Day a short while ago was fun.

To my knowledge, any internal employee can apply for any posted job in the company and is interviewed for qualifications.

As stated earlier, PTO policy at UA falls within industry. One complaint that I would make is that the disability takes far to long to begin and many employees take many hours off unpaid as a result.

I'm not certain of outside functions but there are holiday luncheons, pot lucks, etc. that most employees participate in.
