
If you can navigate the politics and build a coalition behind you it's not too hard to get promoted to middle manager level, but keeping your position can be really tricky once you move into management. A lot of them get imprisoned or killed in suspicious accidents. Our last 3 managers didn't last more than about a month each.
It's virtually impossible. First you have to bribe the guard to let you out of your cell, then you have to plead your case to the Foreman. Most of the time the Foreman rejects your request and you get sent back to your cell and docked 3 months of pay (about $10).
We had a guy who had been in the camp for 35 years. His time for a promotion finally came up. We didn't hear from him again but there was meat in the soup the next couple days.
If you're handy with a knife or poison and not afraid to get your hands dirty it can be done.
