How flexible is your work schedule at WestRock?
In manufacturing plants, normal work week is 50 hours give or take, plus being on call. So getting time off when needed is not usually difficult.
Most manufacturing staff works 45+ hours a week, so getting time off is not normally a problem unless there is a major need for you to be on site.
Are people proactive or do they wait for someone to tell them to do something

I have no idea what the overall Marketing strategy is therefore it is hard to agree with it.

Are your coworkers your friends or just coworkers?
Most are just coworker. Basically we work alone in various areas of a large facility. However if someone needs a help we are quick to pitch in.
Our department is more than just coworkers, but we are not extremely close friends.
How many women are in your team? is it diverse enough?
2. Most of our team has 25+ years seniority. During a recent hiring phase we hired 1 woman and 1 man. In our most recent hiring phase, no women applied.
2 of 8 are women. Don't get many women applicants.
is it easy to switch roles? does mgmt encourage it?

The corporation encourages changing roles, however or department is very specialized and we have limited options where we would want to switch to.
They say they encourage switching rolls, but my department is very specialized and the average seniority is 20 years.
Are you struggling to find people who want to work at your company?
Our facility is in a rural community and many people feel there isn't enough to do in the area. There is quite a lot to do, but you have to look for it. However, you are not going to decide at lunchtime you want to go to the ballet and find one local to attend.
Extremely hard to find applicants. We are in a very rural area.

In my department 3 to 1.

How helpful was your Engineering team when you were first hired at WestRock?
Our local Engineering Team is and has always been very helpful to team members and our customers. That's what we do, help.
What does the ideal candidate in the Engineering department look like at WestRock?
That depends on the location you work. Most of the manufacturing facilities are in rural locations, enjoying a quieter life would be a plus. Working from corporate engineering will require travel to those rural locations, so enjoying travel would be a plus. Corporate engineering does more design. Facility engineering does more optimization.
What kind of people succeed at WestRock?
Those willing to work long hours and move from position to position.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at WestRock?
Many production facilities are in rural locations. There are many things to do, but they don't happen every night or weekend and you do have to look for them.
What's the best part of your job at WestRock?
For salary - pretty flexible with time off. For hourly - best pay in the area.

I'm sure it depends on the location. Most production facilities talk about wanting employee engagement.

How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at WestRock?
Normally there are one or more panel interviews, sometimes accompanied with mill tours and possibly lunch with a supervisor or manager. It depends on the position.
How long do the interviews usually take at WestRock?
Each individual interview lasts about an hour. There might be more than one scheduled back to back.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining WestRock?
Little to no compensation for working an extremely long week.
