  • In manufacturing plants, normal work week is 50 hours give or take, plus being on call. So getting time off when needed is not usually difficult.

  • Most manufacturing staff works 45+ hours a week, so getting time off is not normally a problem unless there is a major need for you to be on site.

  • Most are just coworker. Basically we work alone in various areas of a large facility. However if someone needs a help we are quick to pitch in.

  • 2. Most of our team has 25+ years seniority. During a recent hiring phase we hired 1 woman and 1 man. In our most recent hiring phase, no women applied.

    The corporation encourages changing roles, however or department is very specialized and we have limited options where we would want to switch to.

  • They say they encourage switching rolls, but my department is very specialized and the average seniority is 20 years.

  • Our facility is in a rural community and many people feel there isn't enough to do in the area. There is quite a lot to do, but you have to look for it. However, you are not going to decide at lunchtime you want to go to the ballet and find one local to attend.

  • That depends on the location you work. Most of the manufacturing facilities are in rural locations, enjoying a quieter life would be a plus. Working from corporate engineering will require travel to those rural locations, so enjoying travel would be a plus. Corporate engineering does more design. Facility engineering does more optimization.
