What are your coworkers at Wevr like?
Mostly fantastic. A few were bitter and complained alot. But I think they've since been termed or left the company voluntarily.
What interview questions does Wevr ask?
Pretty standard. A few probing questions to vet specific knowledge, experience. Scenarios questions. What are your strengths/weaknesses. How do you handle conflict. All specific to the role that I had.
What's the interview process like at Wevr?
Too long. 7 weeks. Much had to do with travel of the people I was interviewing with, but still much too long and arduous a process IMHO. Hopefully, this is dialed by now.
What part of Wevr's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Top Employee Response
Fastest: partnerships with major studios and collaborators. Difficulties: attrition, from what I can see.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Wevr?
Inject some fun! It was pretty work work work, no play. Additionally, there were almost an equal number of contractors vs. permanent employees which created some unnecessary delineations. I tried to make sure that everyone was included in the fun, meetings, conversations, etc. so that it always felt like a team vs. a them/us dynamic.
What do people at Wevr think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
I believe the CEO is kind and means well. But he needs a mentor and coach. He's a bit too light on the core tenets of management. The propensity to unknowingly (?) throw people under the bus was a bit too much to take for me. Having worked with/for some true titans in tech I can say that this feels like a bit of insecurity and lack of training vs. any sinister, controlling intent. Still, for those transgressed, it makes them leave. I did.
How's the work life balance at Wevr?
It's a bunch of engineers and creatives. What work/life balance? You have to create that for yourself...in any company such as this. No one is going to force you to take a breather or a holiday. You have to draw that line in the sand for yourself. No one was forced to work overtime or come in on weekends. But, if things needed to be done and you were the person tasked with doing it, then you did what needed to be done. Nothing sinister or oppressive here.
What's the office vibe like at Wevr?
A bit fractured when I worked there. A whole lot of work and no play. Was getting a bit better during my short time, but still needed management buy-in and effort to make it stick. Hoping many of the changes I suggested stuck as it's a great company with tons of potential. But the culture was a bit too top-down, combative and unstable for my tastes, so I bounced.
