I worked briefly with Karat as an Interview Engineer and found the entire system to be gamification and a mockery of the interview process. The company lacks integrity and values in its conduct and evaluation of candidates, and further seeks to mask it through standardization of the procedure.

The company is attempting to get the work done through contracting interview engineers for cheap, without sufficient training, and hence needs to fix its business practices. Both - the candidates and the hiring clients get a sub par experience.

They get a lot of unpaid work done by the new hires in the onboarding process whereby a candidate may need to spend many hours or even days going through their documentation and none of it is paid for. Even after that, there is no guarantee of any amount of work you may or may not get.
