Some of the smartest, most competent people I've ever met work at this company. And my direct manager is the best manager I've ever had. People find a way to work around inconsistent leadership and expectations.

I enjoy working on interesting problems with smart, dedicated people and I get to do that here. I appreciate the urgency and creativity required to work on changing problems. If goals, compensation, and staffing plans aligned with that, I'd be very happy.

Teams are extremely varied. Several of my coworkers are brilliant people who contribute above and beyond. Larger teams that we're supposed to work with, however, are often more bureaucratic than helpful. Dedicated teams with imbedded facilitators and managers are the best model around here.

Having a vision that we're staffed and supported to follow through on. Not constantly derailing work by pulling in new special projects and then expecting the original work to somehow magically be done anyway. Not requiring an unreasonable amount of work that can't be done within work hours.

I am paid enough to do one job, but expected to do at least three. As soon as I get one job under control, new teams and expectations are immediately added without additional compensation or removal of previous expectations to accommodate. The hiring freezes are better than layoffs, but not by much.
