Great retirement plan. You receive a pension after 5 years and a company paid car is great.
What's the office vibe like at Ecolab?
Territory Managers work out of their homes. No central office unless you are in a large metro area
I don’t know I am in the field and I have only been to the office once.
It totally depends on which division or department you work in. My office experience is very supportive and flexible, but I know that isn't the case across all divisional teams.
How's the work life balance at Ecolab?

You are required to have at least 8 calls a day service calls and prospect calls. Some calls are fast some are 2 hours and there's about an hour or 2 of paperwork per day. 24 hours on call for emergencies. Weekend rotation where you cover most of the state your weekend is about every 10 weeks so it's not too bad. I am usually home at a reasonable time. Work life balance is reasonable.
It’s pretty good. I am usually home at a decent hour. Although the 24/7 on call during the week can wreck an evening if you have plans.
For the most part I am usually home at a reasonable time. During the week you are on call 24/7, be prepared to maybe having to run out at night. On the weekends we rotate, so you might be covering the whole state when it’s your turn. You might not get any calls or you might be gone all weekend, depending on your coverage.

I think it depends on where you are at. If you are in an area with a lot of news business then you should be feeling pretty good.

I am in field sales my office is at home.

What's the vibe like in the Sales dept at Ecolab? How many hours are you working?
Hours are about 50 hours a week. If are are not making your sales number you are garbage.
You work by yourself 95% of the time. An average week is 50 to 55 hours. Plus 24-7 on call with rotating weekends.
What's the Sales team like at Ecolab?
You need to look out for yourself. Don’t share too much information with coworkers about new accounts you are trying to bring on.
You are on your own. Great for some people, not so good for others.

Local leadership is good. Area management sees you as a number.

What's the pay like for Sales roles at Ecolab?
The pay is great. If you are lazy you won’t do well. It’s a base pay plus commission
You can do very well in Sales. The first year is a little rough. I always made more money every year.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Ecolab?
Over the past 2 years the micromanaging has gotten crazy. You only want college degreed salespeople but micromanage their every move. Let us do what you hired us to do. When I first started I was told to look at your Sales Territory as your own business and you can make a career in this position. Now it’s just a stepping stone position, where there’s not a lot of ownership. Just trying to get through it to move on to something else.
The last few years the micromanaging has gotten out of control.
What do people at Ecolab think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
I have never heard anyone say anything negative about the CEO. He keeps the stock price going in the right direction and is aggressively expanding the company. So good guy.
He seems like a great guy expanding our company.
How's the vacation policy at Ecolab?
There is no paid vacation. Have to find coverage every time no coverage for your route or territory no vacation
You start with 2 weeks then every 5 years you get an additional week. It is up to you to get your vacation covered by other employees, and you still have to see all your accounts that month. No one is seeing your accounts while you are gone unless they call in for Emergency Service. They saw it’s paid vacation but since we are mostly commission based pay it’s really not. You can only rollover 1 week of vacation to the next year. I currently get 4 weeks vacation, but I have never used more than 2 weeks a year.

The last few years there has been a lot of retirement in upper management and the replacements have not been the best.
