    If someone has to stay really late to get their work done, to me it’s a red flag that they aren’t competent. It’s not always the demonstration of commitment that people think that it is.

    My boss would probably prefer I didn't stay late, but if it meant setting the shift up so they could successfully and easily give better quality worker easier and faster, it would be worth it.

    It really depends on the department. In the last quarter we need all hands on deck. Although staying late may not be a requirement, it is always good to be a team player and help out when you can.

    I think completing jobs are time are important. Staying late doesn't mean you are working hard. It often means you have mismanaged your time during the work day.
