    “Oh we didn’t know that you were interested in being XYZ position” Or “Mr. Ex had more experience” (when this was absolutely not the case and I helped train said Mr. who ultimately left the company and actually turned out to be an illegal drug user)

    Policy of length of current position.

    There's no such position that is needed in my current department. Of course, I think there is room for it, but this is an issue I disagree with my manager. I should be promoted to "Assistant Manager", since my manager is rarely in the office and our staff needs someone present on a daily basis.

    I've been very fortunate in my career. I have been terminated for reasons such as I would not accept a physical transfer after the company I worked for was acquired, and downsizing after a merger (I was higher paid and a cost reduction).
