It is not, from time to time is good to know you're efforts are noted and appreciated.
It is nice to be thanked but not expected.
I really appreciate being thanked by my boss. However, a raise is even better.
It's always nice to get some sort of feedback as to how you're doing but I don't necessarily need to be thanked as I'm just doing my job so the paycheck is enough
I think praise and acknowledgement are important when they’re do, especially when you think and outside the box and that drove great results or you did something outside of your realm of responsibilities.

Recognition is important. Not just private recognition, but public recognition as well in cases where the employee feels safe for it to be shared.
You want to know you're doing a good job.
It is way more important to have a positive relationship with your boss and co-workers than people realize.
Thanks should be reflected in increases in paychecks.
