Hire the right fit for the job
Encourage us and empower us to make our own decisions but also providing guidance and direction as needed. Usually this requires an hour of their time every week in order to stay in sync on strategy and eliminate double work and silos.
Listen and engage on a human level.
Everyone (including managers) could use daily reminders about who we’re serving. Even when I was a retail employee at a big box store, I felt much more committed and invested in my job when I was helping a family get the things they needed to go camping or fitting a child for their first pair of cleats. I prefer to be accountable to the customer, not a corporate goon.
Don't take them for granted and check in with them to see how they are doing.
Treat the professionally
Catch up session, providing unbiased and honest feedback, Trustworthy and with integrity.
Do the donky work for the senior managers who think its great to deligate.
Speak with employees daily. Be open and honest. Be a team leader.
