Q&A With MSG Networks Employees

Phoner was 10-15inutes. In person interviews we're about 30 minutes each and I had three in a row.

Mike was about an hour because it was three separate interviews.

Mirror your interviewer's personality. If they joke around, you joke around (professionally of course). If they're super serious, you are super serious. They only hire people they like, doesn't matter how successful they are.

Research the company, make sure you know what they do and what you can bring to the table. They are looking to skew their audience younger, so speak to that.

Look up generic questions and think of answers. "Why do you want to work here?" "Think of a time where you had to overcome an obstacle"

It was a 4 out of 10. I've worked for 3 other companies and MSG Networks was the worst but I know it's not the worst company out there. My bosses and coworkers drive me insane but it's a steady paycheck with good benefits. I don't see myself staying much longer.

Difficult to get ahold of HR rep. Wouldn't return my calls until I let my contact know that they weren't answering. Had a phone interview, interview with HR, and an interview with my current boss.

Why do you want to work here? Who is your role model?

The typical "what are your strengths and weaknesses" , "describe a time when you took control of a project", "who would you say is your roll model?"

Rigid. I had four interviews for one entry level job. A phone interview with HR, and in person interviews with HR, my would-be boss, and would-be head of department.

Very corporate and generic questions.

Suit and tie. It's more relaxed once you work there but they expect to you to be dressed up.

Suit and tie. Managers and directors are dressed more formally than employees so you'll want to match their clothing.

It was while ago so take this with a grain of salt. I applied and didn't hear back for a few weeks. I got an email stating that they were interested but then I didn't hear anything for a week. I contacted the HR rep 2-3 times with no response. I got ahold of someone else and said I hadn't heard back from the rep. I got an email 2 minutes later from said HR rep that said I would be talking to a different rep. I had a phoner a few days later, then an interview the next week. When I went in for my interview, my original HR rep was on Facebook on her computer and Twitter on her phone and didn't even look at me. Overall a very poor experience.

I had a meeting with an HR rep, then a meeting with my would-be supervisor, then finally a meeting with the head of the department. All of these were in one visit and each were about 15-20 minutes.

Why do you want to work here? Do you like the Knicks? Who is your role model? How do you organize yourself?

To say I have a schedule is a joke. I come in random time all week long and it's different every week. My internal clock is an absolute mess.

They do a full background check and drug test for pre-employee screenings. I have not been tested again in my time here.

They only hire people with tons of experience. I've overheard conversations about possible interns and they don't give anyone else a chance, then they give them crap busy work and don't even properly use the experienced interns. It's super weird and a waste of time. They do pay though, so bravo.

Poorly We have a bully in our department and she hasn't been fired yet, even though she's been reported to HR and repremanded. They also fired someone in my department, then the HR rep came to collect his things and said he was "separated from the company". Then the HR rep took the next day off so no one would ask him about it. Very, very strange. They're nice people, but HR is not there to help you, they're there to help the company.

Little to not at all. Old tech, old employees, and a closed mind. They have "future meetings" where they pretend they're trying to move into the 20th century and yes, I do mean the 20th century. But after the meetings, they say thank you, then do nothing.

I was going to say stability but they let go two people in my department in about two months, then posted three part time jobs that did the same work. The name MSG Networks carries no weight and you are underpaid. So there's not reason to work there unless you haven't gotten any other offers.

Very biased for some reason. Half of my coworkers were allowed to whereas the other half weren't. The half that wasn't was actually more productive than the half that was allowed to. Made absolutely no sense.

It's a boys' club. Everyone is expected to be extremely loyal & work very long hours even though the company would fire you instantly. Very old fashioned thinking.

My coworkers are very funny & creative.

Like a big H. The elevator is in the center & there are four corners.

Probably 50-60% white.

Most departments are good but I do know some departments are very, very low.

Very corporate. You'd think a sports company would be loose & fun but getting anything done can take weeks or months.

Staff employees sometimes get free tickets to hockey games for the New Jersey Devils & New York Islanders.

Our department has never had an outing

I would leave immediately for a 13% pay bump.
