Working here may not be an actual picnic, but it’s close. Pivots enjoy collaborative workspaces, daily catered breakfast, a fully stocked kitchen with healthy options, ping pong, pool tables, board games, and bicycles, as well as relaxation rooms for when you just need a moment.

How employees describe working at Pivotal

Made four attempts to have a sink ( plumbing) fixed. All four times I took off of work. All four times no call no show. Pivotal had "No" idea what was going on. Could not understand employee on the other end was saying. Terrible way to run a company. I canceled the service. Don't get involved.

  • That the company is infested with ego maniacs and delusional leaders. Take the IPO for instance, they lure people on saying it would be 30-40 USD per share, and it ended being 7$. For a small company, the lack of trust amongst the leadership is terrifying, there's an org change every 3 months due political discrepancy between leadership, they hardly agree on a vision, this is manifested on how they completely missed the point with cloudfoundry and how important k8s is, by the time they finally woke up, one may say it's too late. It's not a healthy environment for you to be, not if you seek something more of your career. If you only want to write code every day, they will feed you some breakfast and make you happy, but you get better wages somewhere else.

  • The company pays special attention to the quality, style, ambiance and location of their offices. Some of them (Santa Monica, London, NY, Toronto, etc) are some of the best I've seen anywhere.

  • We get unlimited snacks, coffee, and alcohol. We have 2k per year to go to conferences.

  • Pretty great - Pivotal cares about sustainable pace. People don't stay longer than they should, usually.

  • The vibe is very different in each office. We have offices all over North America and the world so it's hard to describe a single vibe for all. We typically work 45-50 hours a week.

  • It's different with each office. We have over a dozen so it's hard to gauge morale. It's all depending on leadership and how well the employees are valued and being treated at each location. The smaller offices seem to have better morales and the bigger offices have lower because you are just a number on a long list of worker bees.

    I believe we have a very diverse team. Asian, white, latino, afro americans. Not sure when gender become the only diversity aspect. But yes, we have a decent share of women on our team as well.
