All about who you know, not what you know. I got passed up for a position that was very technical in nature for someone who had zero technical knowledge. Reason? She was sleeping with the person hiring for the position.

It's not terribly difficult but the process is very long. You need to plan at least a year ahead of time with your direct supervisor to plan it out.
