Despite my migivings when GE sold Appliances to Haier, a Chinese company, they have invested heavily and we gave grown 2x. Jeff Immelt promoted people skilled at deflecting blame, taking credit, and making other people responsible for goals. Kevin promotes problem solvers, not finger pointers.
What makes you most happy at work?
Feeling like i make a difference in our oroducts.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We have a huge number of really good expert people here, and relatively few laggards.
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
Be less focused on diversity. We are passing up good peopke becaise they dont check the right diversity boxes.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Their focus on oroblem solving, giving the various product line and enterprise leaders decision making authority, and a genuine desire to compete and grow our business.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
These past few years there has been a lot more encouragement for (engineers at keast) to oursue out of the box product ideas with a lot less beuracratic obstacles. FirstBuild, the Combo washer dryer, the Arden indoor smoker, RV appliances, and the Opal icemaker are just a few.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
During Covid, our HR team gave us a lot of flexibikity to work ftom home or come in when we needed to, without becoming legalistc about it (e.g like odd/even days in office). On the bad side, CVS pharmacy benefits are lousy - we've had to change medications 4 times when they stopped coverage.
