The Top 100 highest-rated companies with the Best Compensation are based on anonymous employee feedback on Comparably.com to a variety of questions regarding an employee’s overall satisfaction with their compensation package (salary, raises, bonuses, stock/equity if applicable, and benefits). This distinction is segmented into two lists: Large companies (more than 500 employees) and Small/Mid-Size companies (500 employees or fewer). Methodology is outlined below the lists.
“In order to recruit and retain top talent today, companies need to provide competitive compensation across the board,” said Comparably co-founder/CEO Jason Nazar. “Employees from the top-notch companies on our annual Best Compensation list say they feel valued and more motivated to do a great job because their organizations are invested in them to help drive the business forward.”

Best Compensation (Small/Med-Size Companies)

Methodology
- This set of Comparably Awards are derived from sentiment ratings provided by employees who anonymously rated their employers on Comparably.com during a 12-month period (September 17, 2020-September 17, 2021).
- Rankings were determined based on a series of questions related to compensation (in yes/no, true/false, 1-10 scale, and multiple-choice format). The answer to each question was given a numerical score and then compared to companies of similar size. Sample questions include:
- Do you believe you’re paid fairly?
- How often do you get a raise?
- Are you satisfied with your benefits?
- Does your company give annual bonuses?
- If applicable, are you satisfied with your stock or equity?
- To qualify, Large companies (more than 500 employees) must have met a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (500 or fewer employees) needed a minimum of 25 employee participants. For fairness and statistical significance, additional weight was given to companies with more participation from their employee base.
- There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required. The final data set was compiled from 15 million ratings across 70,000 North American companies.
