Cultural transparency is critical to our business and we encourage ERG’s, educational awareness on D&I, supports unconscious bias and psychological safety training. In understanding there is always room for building Allyship we have created several Allyship Programmes for everyone to gain better insight into someone else lived experience. Additionally by having an annual engagement survey that all employees have an opportunity to share their feedback and can assess their belonging metrics is a positive action felt by all. By acknowledging we have a great business that needs to support various D&I initiatives to become better resonates with everyone.

Each week, Golden Hippo holds a Town Hall meeting where our CEO reads submissions from our anonymous suggestion box out loud and answers each question individually, creating a space of ultimate transparency. Additionally, one of our recommended readings at Golden Hippo for our employees is ‘Radical Candor’ by Kim Scott, which provides readers with the tools to foster a feedback-driven management culture. Unlike radical transparency or radical honesty, Scott says the management principle of radical candor involves “caring personally while challenging directly.” We try to implement this in all of our conversations.

Our focus on radical transparency has given our employees the ability to feel comfortable vocalizing their concerns and suggestions, which ultimately allows us to improve as a company. For every action item that is presented in our suggestion box, we make concrete changes. Recently, we received feedback that expressed desire for increased transparency regarding revenue and ROI. Since then, we dedicate at least 5 minutes each meeting to reviewing our Video Sales Tracker to look at where we’re succeeding, and where more attention might need to be focused.

At Cambium, we believe employees achieve their best work when they feel seen, valued and supported. To achieve that, our team created an internal communications program, Cambium United, which provides our staff with increased visibility into our business strategy, priorities, and overall progress as well as our ongoing efforts to align investments, policies, compensation, and benefits. With this information readily available through executive-led communications, Town Halls, and office hours, we are building a level of trust within our organization so that employees can better understand how the work they do contributes to our larger impact.
