Women vs. Men: How Their Leadership Priorities Compare

If you were given your boss’s job, what’s the first thing you’d do? The top answer among women was “increase employee pay” while the top answer among men was “better vision and strategy.”

That’s according to the latest reading of an ongoing query by Comparably of more than 25,000 people across the tech industry.

Differing views

When asked to choose the first thing they would do if they were the boss, 30% of women chose “increase employee pay”; 26% chose “better vision/strategy”; 25% chose “improve office culture”; 10% chose “make a better product” and 9% chose “cut expenses.”

Men, on the other hand, chose “better vision/strategy” (33%), “increase employee pay” (23%), “improve office culture” (22%), “make a better product” (15%), and “cut expenses” (7%).

Pay also top of mind for young, less experienced workers

Employees 18 to 25 were the only age group to rank “increase employee pay” (29%) more than “better vision/strategy” (24%).
