Paul Pagel founded 8th Light in 2006, and has been a driving force in the software development community ever since. He has grown 8th Light from a small consultancy into a brand that is recognized by software developers worldwide.

Since taking over as CEO in 2011, Paul has directed the company’s growth as it has doubled in size twice. He has overseen the evolution of the company’s internal apprenticeship program, which allowed the consultancy to guarantee the high quality of its services even at an international scale. He took the lead role in launching and growing 8th Light's six offices, developing, mentoring, supporting, and guiding teams to operate autonomously in Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Madison, New York, and Austin.

Paul has also led 8th Light’s Board of Directors as they have invested in several startups on behalf of 8th Light. He has also managed the teams, built internal teams, and helped build the software that has directly led to the impact these partners have had in their own markets.

Paul sits on the Board of Directors for Hearken, a web platform that connects newsrooms with the communities they cover. He was also an early investor in AXUS Travel App — a web and mobile platform for travel advisors and travelers to collaborate on and manage travel itineraries — and advised the business through the initial development and growth of their platform, all the way through their successful exit to Northstar Partners.
