What's the company culture like at SendGrid?
Top Employee Response
There are four core values at SendGrid: Happy, Hungry, Humble, and Honest. Everybody takes it pretty seriously, not just the CEO, and filtering for people who demonstrate these values is one of the reasons that SendGrid is such a good place to work. One other thing I think is worth mentioning: I've been at SendGrid between 6-12 months and I am constantly impressed by my coworkers. Some places employ people, and you wonder "How does this person still have a job?" and I've never had any reason to wonder that here.
The best culture I've ever been a part of. Our CEO is our Chief Cultural Officer and we hire, promote and even fire around it our culture. Everyone at SendGrid truly lives its 4H values of being Happy, Hungry, Humble and Honest. It's not something that just lives on the walls or on our website, you hear people using it in meetings, in the halls, in emails.
Fast paced and honest... with a few departmental exceptions

The coworkers do a good job of keeping employees. Management is average.
People management is not the strongest skillset at SendGrid.
Upper management, yes. Middle management less so.
Are your coworkers your friends or just coworkers?

Friends, love my team
Friends for sure. I love these people.
How's the work life balance at SendGrid?
Top Employee Response
Pretty good overall. If you're here at 6pm during the week, it's pretty much a ghost town.
Probably the best I've ever experienced in my career!
Very good. Extra work only happens when there's a _very_ good reason for it, and it's normally not required from "on-high."
Can i keep my beard? Or is that not a good idea?
Keep the beard.
It would be weirder if you didn't keep it!
Keep it. 100%.

No pets allowed in the Denver office as the building does not allow them. Only service animals.
How's the morale at SendGrid?
Pretty great! Seems like morale is high after the acquisition announcement and recent progress against targets. Lots to do - but we have clear run-room for delivery!
Really high. People love working here and serving our customers. We experience growth pains like all high-growth companies do but the vast majority of Gridders are excited to solve those challenges.

What are you most excited about working at SendGrid?
I really enjoy working with the people on my teams and I think our senior leadership is best in class.
We're in a really exciting growth period where change is happening so fast that the company looks fairly different with each year that passes. We've still held on to our core values and strict hiring standards, so it's easy to feel optimistic about the future even in the midst of massive change. It's exciting to think about how different we'll be 6-12 months from now.
is advice and help given or do you feel like it’s “each man for itself”
Sendgrid is working on improving its middle managers capabilities concerning mentorship but as of right now it leaves something to be desired.
Just need to ask.
How long have u been working there? U like it?

Coming up on a year. I still like he company and love the people, but we're going a bad job at maintaining what's great at our current pace of growth.

I think Sameer is officially one of the most-highly-rated CEOs in the world, not just the tech industry, and it's well-deserved. He's eloquent, thoughtful, considerate, and clever.
