Executive Bio
Mr. Raymond Smets, also known as Ray has been Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales at A10 Networks, Inc. since November 2016 and served as its Vice President of Worldwide Sales from July 2013 to January 30, 2017. From December 2011 to July 2013 Mr. Smets served as Senior Vice President of Field Operations at Metaswitch Networks. Mr. Smets had responsibility for the worldwide customer facing organization including direct and channel sales, customer support and international product development. Mr. Smets served as Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Networking Business Unit at Cisco Systems, where he was responsible for driving its Enterprise and Service Provider Wireless LAN business, strategy, technology and product development. Mr. Smets served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Packeteer, Inc. From February 2007 to September 2007, he served as Vice President of Marketing for the Broadband Solutions Group within Motorola's Connected Home Solutions business. Mr. Smets joined Motorola in February 2007. He served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Netopia Inc. Prior to joining Netopia in January 2006, Mr. Smets served as the President of Network General Inc., subsidiary of McAfee Inc., from October 2002 to August 2004. He served as a Consultant for McAfee from August 2004 to December 2005. He served as the President of Network General Central Corporation. From January 2001 to October 2002, Mr. Smets served as President of Sniffer Technologies group of McAfee, Inc. (formerly, Networks Associates Inc.). Prior to joining McAfee, he served for over 15 years in executive roles at BellSouth Corporation, including President of BellSouth.net Inc./BellSouth Internet Services, Inc., from January 1998 to December 2000 and Vice President of Network Transformation and Corporate Officer of its Network Transformation. From 1986 to December 1997, Mr. Smets held various other management positions at BellSouth Corporation and its subsidiaries, including as President of BellSouth Applied Technologies Inc. He has been a Director of IntelePeer, Inc. since January 2011. Mr. Smets holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from Nova-Southeastern University. He has completed Executive Program at Stanford University.
