Knowing what our goals are and how we can improve
The work load is not much, so there is no excess pressure from the management. Work life balance is good and the culture is not very competitive so people are willing to help.

There is no work life balance, you work excessive hours to achieve impossible deadlines with little reward or relief of pressure

There is a constant fear of getting fired, so tension can be high. Upper management has no problem saying "People are our most important asset"...then lay off a large group 3 days later.
