Pop-up translation sometimes doesn't work with Adobe Reader because of the later's restrictive permissions.

We recommend changing Adobe Reader's settings.

For the correct work of pop-up translation in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (andAdobe Reader XI) open theEditmenu and selectPreferences ->Security (Enhanced), then clear theEnable protected modeat start checkbox.

For the correct work of pop-up translation in Adobe Reader X open theEditmenu and selectPreferences ->General, then clear theEnable protected mode at start checkbox.

When the program is started you are prompted to accept terms of End User License Agreement and after you accept it nothing happens.

To resolve the issue please do the following:

Go toC:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA(orC:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSAfor Windows XP)

To get web access to your database from ABBYY Business Card Reader for iOS and Android:

Turn on synchronization in the ABBYY BCR app on your mobile device:

Go toSettings;

ChooseSynchronizationmenu;

Register using an email and a password. Synchronization turns on automatically after you register.

Go to your PC:

Open https://my.abbyybcr.com/ ;

Log in using the email and password you registered with in the mobile app;

Hold on for just a moment while the database downloads for the first time: the first download may take a bit longer.

Turn onBatch mode in the upper left corner to edit images after all photos are taken.

Turn offBatch modeto edit the image right after you take the shot.

In the image editor interface:

PressDeleteto delete a specific page.

PressRetaketo take the shot of a page again.

Use theCropfunction to edit the result of the auto-crop or manually configure the edges of the page.

Use theFiltersfunction to change the image appearance:

Original - no filters applied;

B/W - makes a colored image black-and-white and increases contrast;

Grayscale - makes a colored image black-and-white;

Color - increases contrast of a colored image.

Note: Last used filter will be applied to all later added images.

Choose the orientation of a page with theRotate function.

Choose the function you need and press the yellowApply to all button in the lower edge of the screen to change the appearance of all pages.

By default application interface language coincides with mobile device language. If device language is not supported as an interface language,the first supported language from list ofPreferred languageswill be selected.

To change order ofPreferred languagesfollow the steps below:

On your mobile device go toSettings > General >Languageand region;

TapEditin the right upper corner;

Move required language to the first place in the list with languages;

TapDone.

ABBYY Business Card Reader enables you to synchronize the recognized contacts with the Outlook accountthrough your phone contacts list. To do so, follow the steps below:

On iOS 11:

1. Setup synchronization of your mobile device contacts with your Outlook account:

If you need to extract information from the scan instantly and privately select Plain Text mode to recognize text on-device without connecting to the Internet. Offline recognition converts text to TXT format and supports 63 languages.

To keep the formatting of the captured text (footnotes, tables, etc.), you may use Preserve original formatting mode. The recognition is proceeded on the server (online) and supports 193 languages and 12 formats (Word, PDF, Excel, etc.) for the resulting file. Both formats support up to three recognition languages for a single document.

Tips on taking photos that are suitable for recognition:

Make sure that the text you're going to photograph is well lit.

The lines of text should be parallel to the top edge of the screen of your mobile device.

The distance between your mobile device and the text you're going to photograph should be 15 to 30 centimeters. If you position your device closer than 15 centimeters to the text, the resulting image will likely be blurred.

Text should be set in standard fonts.

Hold you phone steadily and don't move it until the photo is taken.

ABBYY FineScannernot only takes a photo of the document like a regular digital camera, but also:

Automatically corrects the perspectiveto generate the rectangular and upright image;

Crops away unnecessary borders (the table the document is on, for example);

Uses black and white, color or grayscale filters to eliminate noise, enhance contrast and brightness;

The resulting copy is optimized for viewing and printing. You can export it as a multipage PDF or a JPEG image.

FineScanner is powered by ABBYY Neural Network that automatically analyses the photos in the phone gallery and sorts images with text recommended for scanning.

It works on-device, so you don`t need an internet connection for this feature. You can select one or several images and proceed with scanning and text recognition.

InCameramode the text is extracted from an image previously taken within the application or uploaded from the device's storage.

InReal-Timerecognition mode the text is extracted directly from the camera view, thus there is no need to take a picture. InAutomaticmode the algorithm stops recognition process and prints out the recognized text as soon as the sufficient recognition rate is reached. InManualmode you can control the recognition time yourself.

In ABBYY Business Card Reader for Web you can:

View the entire database of your business cards from ABBYY BCR apps for iOS and Android.

View the front and back side of every business card and the contact photo.

Edit cards.

Update notes.

The following message is displayed when the user starts the program:"Access to :\Windows\... was denied."

The environment variables on your machine may be set up incorrectly. The TEMP and TMP variables must have the value \%USERPROFILE\%\AppData\Local\Temp.

To change the values of these variables:

1) SelectStart->Control Panel->System->Advanced system settings->Advanced>Environment Variables...

2) In theEnvironment Variablesdialog box, select TEMP underUser variables for <user nae>and clickEdit.

3) In the dialog box that opens, type \%USERPROFILE\%\AppData\Local\Temp in theVariable valuefield and clickOK.

4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the TMP variable.

To move ABBYY Lingvofrom one computer toanother, follow the steps below.

Uninstall ABBYY Lingvo from the computeron whichyou have it installed by opening theControl PanelandselectingAdd or RemovePrograms(Programs and Features).

Install ABBYY Lingvo on the second computer.

Activate ABBYY Lingvo on the second computer using the sameserial number you used on the first computer.

If you used an activation code to activate ABBYY Lingvo on a computer,you will not be able to use the same code to activate ABBYY Lingvo on a different computer. Activation codes are based on the Product ID parameter, which is different for every computer.

If you can't activate your copy of ABBYY Lingvo, please contactour Technical Support service.

The following error message appears during installation:

Access to file C:\Users\%USERNAME\%\AppData\Local\Temp\rollback is denied

Ifantivirus softwareis running on your computer, disable it and try to install ABBYY Lingvo again.

If the problem persists, change the values of the TMP and TEMP environment variables before making another attempt to install the program.

To change environment variables, complete the steps below.

Go to Control Panel >(System and security >) System.

On the left selectAdvanced system settings.

Click theEnvironment Variablesbutton.

Select theTMPvariable in theUser variablessection.

Click theEditbutton.

Specify a new value for the variable, for exampleC:\Temp.

Select theTEMPvariable in theUser variablessection and repeat steps 7 and 8.

Launch installation again.

When I launch the application, the following message appears:

The connection to the licensing service has been lost. Trying to reconnect...

If I click theCancelbutton,another message appears:

ABBYY Licensing Service is unavailable: The RPC server is unavailable.

These messages appearif theABBYY Lingvo 3/x5/x6 Licensing Serviceis not running on your computer.

To launch ABBYY Lingvo3/x5/x6, follow the steps below:

PressWindows + Ron keyboard.

Enterservices.mscto search box and clickOK.Servicesdialog will open in a new window.

In the list of services findABBYY Lingvo x3/x5/x6 Licensing Serviceand right-click it.

SelectPropertiesfrom the shortcut menu.

Select theGeneraltab.

Check if theAutomaticitem is selected in theStartup typedrop-down list. If a different item is selected, selectAutomatic

*in case error message occurs every time after a reboot selectAutomatic (Delayed start).

Click theOKbutton.

Right-click theABBYY Lingvo x3/x5/x6 Licensing Serviceagainand select eitherStartorRestartfrom the shortcut menu.

Launch ABBYYLingvo x3/x5/x6 to make sure it is working correctly.

To restore the previously purchased dictionaries on an iOS device, please do the following:

LaunchABBYY Lingvo Dictionaries;

TapDictionaries > Restore;

If the downloading did not start automatically, please do the following:

Navigate to theStoretab;

Set up the needed translation direction;

Find the previously purchased dictionaries on the list;

Tap on the green arrow next to the dictionary name to download it.

If the dictionaries fail to be restored please double check you are using the same Apple ID. You can check the purchases in iTunes purchase history. Please note that the purchases cannot be tranferred automatically to a new Apple ID or restoredafter a country change as by Apple policy.

To restore dictionaries that you have already purchased in ABBYY Lingvo Dictionaries for Android, follow the instructions below.

Make sure you are signed in to the same Google-account as the one you use when made purchase;

Launch ABBYY Lingvo Dictionaries for Android;

Tap All;

One more time tapMenuand selectRestore purchases;

Selecttranslation direction at the top of the screen;

Instead of price grey schoolbag icon shall be displayed next to the purchased dictionary;

To download the dictionary tap the icon.

Saving

Go to this section to choose business cards storage places. Available options:

CardHolder - scanned business cards will be stored only in BCR.

CardHolder and Contacts - scanned business cards will be stored in BCR and iPhone Contacts.

CardHolder and Salesforce - scanned business cards will be stored in BCR and exported to Salesforce Lead.

CardHolder, Contacts and Salesforce - scanned business cards will be stored in BCR and iPhone Contacts and also exported to Salesforce Lead.

Always ask - if you turn on this option, BCR will always ask where to store scanned business card.

Go to this section to set up your business card sending,languageand welcome email text. Settings available:

Message language - choose language of welcome email with your business card.

Send automatically - turn on if you want welcome email with your business card attached to be sent after every business card scanning.

My card - choose a business card out of My card folder that you want to be attached to your welcome email.

Template text - set up welcome email text.

Go tothis section to create your business card manually, without scanning the paper one:

Add logo - if you want to placeacompany logo on your business card, you can take a photo of it from your colleague's business card or any other materials. Use cropping to selectthelogo area. Click on the “Magic Wand” at the bottom of the screen to improvethebrightness and contrast of the photo.

Click on the checkmark in the upper right corner. Your business card is created!

Flash

Turn on this function if you want to take pictures of business cards using flash. You can also turn on/off flash on the camera screen.

SelectShare > Send asorSend via email;

Select application to complete the action.

To recognize the document, do the following:

Press Recognizebutton next to document name or select Menu > Recognize;

Select recognition mode:

Plain text mode makes on-device text capture without sending document to the server. Text formatting would not be saved. After recognition will be finished, text can be opened using one of the available applications;

Preserve original formatting mode creates document on the server and save document’s structure and style;

Select recognition languages and format of resulting file, then press Done;

To open the document, press the icon that appears after the recognition will be finished and select the application.

To send recognized document pressMenu > Share > Send asorSend via emailand select required format.

If yourABBYY Lingvo for Macwas not purchased from theApp Store,it cannot be updated to ABBYY Lingvo for Mac 1.9.7.

How can I listen to pronunciations of words in ABBYY Lingvo Dictionaries for Android?

In order to listen to pronunciations of words, you need to install a dictionary that includes recorded pronunciations. The dictionaries that include recorded pronunciations of words are listed below.

If a recorded pronunciation is available for an entry in one of the dictionaries listed below, you can tap the speaker icon to download an audio file with the pronunciation. Please note that pronunciations were recorded only for frequently used words.

Make sure that the Ring/Silent switch is not flipped to silent mode.

To disable the “Created by ABBYY FineScanner” signature line, do the following:

Open Menu in FineScanner iOS;

Tap Settings;

Turn off App Signature.

The following error message appears during activation of the program:

This serial number cannot be activated automatically. You may be are trying to activate the program on more computers than is allowed by the End User License Agreement.

This message appears when the serial number of the program you're trying to activate was temporary blocked. This can happen for several reasons:

The serial number was activated very frequently.

The serial number was used to upgrade a program.

As a result of a violation of the end-user license agreement.

Please contact technical support for further information.

Tomove all your saved cards on another iOS device, do the following:

Cannot recognize the image

We recommend you to do the following:

Make sure that the appropriate language is selected. You can change the language in Options > Recognition Languages.

Take a new photo of the text, following the recommendationsin this article.

The app allows you to synchronize business cards stored on your iOS and Android BCR. Synchronization is carried out via the ABBYY Cloud service.

TheEnablemenu disables or enables synchronization on the current device. If you disable synchronization on a device, any business cards that you process on that device will not be available on your other iOS or Android devices.

TheVia cellular (Bymobile network)menu enables or disables synchronization via your cell-phone network. If this option is disabled, business cards will only be synchronized over Wi-Fi. If this option is enabled, business cards will be synchronized both over Wi-Fi and over your cell-phone network, which may entail additional data transfer costs.

Enable synchronization;

LaunchABBYY BCRon another mobile device;

TapSettings > Synchronization > ABBYY Cloudand log in with the e-mail address and password that were used on first mobile device;

Enable synchronization.

Please note, if synchronization is enabled, deleting card from the application aldo automatically delete it from cloud storage.

To cancel a subscription follow the steps below:

On your mobile device:

LaunchGoogle Play Market;

TapMenubutton in upper left corner of the screen and selectAccount;

OpenSubscriptionsand find Business Card Reader;

Press"Cancel"button and tap"Yes"to confirm.

On your computer:

Open any web-browser and go to play.google.com/store/account ;

Login using your Google-account;

Find Business Card Reader inSubscriptions;

ClickCancel Subscription.

Important:uninstalling the aplication will not automatically stop purchased subscription. If you uninstall the application without cancelling subscription, you will still be charged.

Recognition languages

Go to this section to choose recognition languages. You can choose up to 3 languages at a time. English and device languages are chosen by default.

Online translation

Go to this section to choose original and translation languages for online mode.

Offline translation

Go to this section to choose original and translation languages for offline mode.

Use offline translation

Turn on this function if you want to use offline mode constantly. If there is no recognized word in offline dictionaries, it will be shown in the original language in the translation results pane.

Premium Account

Go to Premium account section to learn about Premium account features and to purchase monthly or yearly subscription.

Restore purchases

If you want to restore TextGrabber subscriptions or purchases, click on Restore purchases.

Font size

Go to this section to change the font size.

Export

Add signature

Turn off this function if you do not want to add TextGrabber mention while document exporting.

Photo

Save Snapshot

Turn on this function if you want to save photos to camera gallery.

ABBYY news

Turn on this function to receive advertising and marketing messages from ABBYY: email newsletters or push-notifications about new application features, promotions, and discounts.

Improve ABBYY services

Turn on this function to help us to improve TextGrabber by sharing application usage data.

All applications, including ABBYY applications, are associated with your Apple ID. In order to refund one of purchased application, use the following article of iTunes Knowledge Base (tap Report a Problem in the Purchase History).

To send your business card from BCR to new contacts using iMessage for the very first time, do the following settings:

Open iMessage and go to conversations;

Tap App Store button next to the text box. At the bottom of the screen, there will be shown the icons of all applications on the device that can be displayed in iMessage;

If there is no BCR icon, scroll to the last icon and tap More;

Tap Edit;

Add BCR to iMessage by flicking on the switch to the right;

Tap the green “+” icon on the left to add BCR to Favorites.

To send a business card using iMessage:

Go to the conversation;

Tap App Store button next to the text box and select BCR;

Create a new business card or send an existing one from the My cards list.

The serial number is not required to download and install the application, purchased in App Store. All iOS applications including ABBYY applications which you purchase in App Store store are associated with your Apple ID.

To download previously purchased application use the following instruction.

If while using BCR for Android, “Camera” and “Upload from gallery” buttons are overlapped by navigation bar, we would recommend you to do the following:

Run Business Card Reader for Android and rotate the device on 180 degrees; or

Tap and hold an application icon. From the shortcut menu, select the Take a photo item.

Note:this situation was fixed in4.22.0.20 version of BCR. Please, update the application.

To copy the text that has been recognized with TextGrabber, do the following:

Open a note;

Tap Share icon > Copy to clipboard.

Create document:

Launch ABBYY FineScanner;

Take images using device camera or select images from Gallery, then press Done button;

If necessary, cut or rotate image and apply filters using toolbar;

Then press Apply to all or Done button;

Press Done.

Recognize document:

Open the document list;

Select required document and tap Recognize button;

Select recognition mode:

Plain text mode makes on-device text capture without sending document to the server. Text formatting would not be saved. After recognition will be finished, text can be copied or sent to one of the available applications.

Preserve original formatting mode creates document on the server and save document’s structure and style.

Select recognition languages and format of resulting file, then press Done.

Share document:

Open the document list;

Tap Share button;

Select By Email, To your Email or To a Cloud service;

Select file format:

Recognized file: Searchable PDF (PDF/A), DOCX (DOC), XLSX (XLS), TXT, RTF, ODT, PPTX, EPUB, FB2;

Image-only file: JPG, PDF.

In order to add a business card to theABBYY Business Card Reader app please follow the steps below:

Run the app;

Press the camera icon in the lower left of the screen;

In the opened camera interface you can control the following options:

Enable or disable flash in the upper left corner;

Enable or disable auto-detection in the upper right corner;

Choose recognition languages in the upper edge of the screen;

Point the camera at the business card which you want to recognize;

Make sure the image of the card is placed within the white frame, press the camera shutter button in the bottom edge of the screen (or wait for the end of auto-detection process);

In the opened recognition editor interface you can do the following:

Make sure that all data was recognized correctly;

Correct the information if necessary;

Add additional information and the backside image of the business card;

Assign the contact to the group;

Press Savein theupper right of the screen;

Choose saving destination.

You can go back to the point 6 and edit data any time.
