Charles Ditmars Lake II — President of Aflac International & Chairman of Aflac Japan at Aflac

Mr. Charles Ditmars Lake II has been the President at Aflac International, Incorporated since January 2014. Mr. Lake is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to address initiatives in international public affairs, particularly in response to global standards-setting entities such as the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB). He joined Aflac International in February 1999 and Aflac Japan in June 1999. He served as the President of AFLAC Japan from January 2003 to April 2005. He served as Deputy President of AFLAC Japan from July 2001 to December 2002. He served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Legal and Compliance at AFLAC Japan from January 2001 to June 2001. He served as Vice President and Counsel of AFLAC Japan from June 1999 to December 2000. He served as Vice President and Counsel of Aflac International, Incorporated from February 1999 to August 2000 and served as its Senior Vice President and General Counsel from September 2000 to June 2001. He has nearly three decades of professional experience. Prior to his approximately 15-year career with Aflac, he practiced law in Washington, D.C. and also served as director of Japan Affairs and special counsel at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in the Executive Office of the President. He served as an Attorney at Law, Dewey Ballantine LLP, Washington, D.C. until January 1999. He has been the Chairman at Aflac Japan since June 30, 2008. He serves as the Chairman of the US-Japan Business Council and President of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation. He serves as the Chairman in Japan, American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus. He serves as the President Emeritus of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan. He served as Vice Chairman of Aflac Japan, a Division of Aflac Inc. from April 2005 to June 30, 2008. He has been an Outside Corporate Director of Tokyo Electron Limited since June 17, 2016. He has been a Director of Aflac International, Incorporated since January 2014 and Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics since April 2014. He served as an Advisory Board Member of Monex Group, Inc. He serves as a Director of Aflac Japan and (US) Coalition of Service Industries. He serves as an Outside Director of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. since June 28, 2016. He served as an Outside Director of Japan Exchange Group, Inc. (Formerly Tokyo Stock Exchange Group, Inc.), a holding company of Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. since January 2013. Mr. Lake served as a Director of Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc.
