Dr. Robert Blumofe, also known as Bobby, has been an Executive Vice President of Platform Division at Akamai Technologies, Inc. since January 2013 and has been its General Manager of Enterprise Division since November 07, 2017. Dr. Blumofe is responsible for operating and evolving the distributed system underlying all Akamai products and enabling the success and innovation of customers, partners and network operators. Dr. Blumofe also leads the teams responsible for the global strategy and deployment of Akamai's network infrastructure, as well as Akamai's internal IT department. He served as a Senior Vice President of Networks and Operations at Akamai Technologies, Inc. from 2008 to 2012 and served as its General Manager of Enterprise & Carrier Division since April 26, 2016 until November 07, 2017. Serving as one of Akamai's Chief Architects, Dr. Blumofe was instrumental in the early design and development of the Akamai Network. He has led all of Networks and Operations at Akamai Technologie since 2004 and served as its Vice President of Networks and Operations. Dr. Blumofe joined Akamai in 1999 to lead its first performance team. Prior to Akamai, Dr. Blumofe served as an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. He is widely published in the areas of algorithms and systems for highly distributed and parallel computing. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT and a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University.
