Executive Bio

Mr. Garret John Dixon, B.Eng (Hons), MBA, MAICD has been Vice President and President of Bauxite at Alcoa Corporation since November 1, 2016. Mr. Dixon serves as the President of Alcoa Mining at Alcoa of Australia Limited. He has over 35 years experience in the civil and mining contracting and resources sectors. He is an experienced and accomplished Senior Executive with extensive experience in the mining, transport and contracting industries in Australia and overseas. He served as the President of Alcoa Mining Global Primary Products Perth, Australia at Arconic Inc. He served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Gindalbie Metals Ltd. from December 8, 2006 to May 5, 2011, oversaw the design, construction and start-up of the Karara Iron Ore project. He served as an Executive General Manager of Mining West for Henry Walker Eltin Group Ltd. (HWE) since July 2004, where he was employed for 18 years, prior to joining Mitchell Corp. He was responsible for all of HWE's surface and underground mining operations in Australia and New Zealand, with annual turnover of more than $650 million. He played a key role in a Management Buyout proposal for the profitable HWE Mining Australia business, which continued operating throughout the period of HWE's administration from 2005 to its sale to Leighton Contractors in February 2006. During his career with Henry Walker Eltin Group Ltd., he served as General Manager of Business Development and Mining and Construction Manager for the initial development and later expansion of BHP-Billiton's world-class Yandi Iron Ore Mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. He served as the Managing Director of Mitchell Corp. Australia. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Watpac Limited since February 12, 2014. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Strandline Resources Limited (formerly, Gunson Resources Ltd.) from September 5, 2012 to October 23, 2014. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Padbury Mining Limited from September 5, 2011 to December 19, 2011. He served as a Director of Gindalbie Metals Ltd. from December 2006 to April 2011. Mr. Dixon holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Adelaide University in 1980 and holds MBA from the University of Western Australia.
