There hasn't been any layoff for last few years. But there was a period of time it happened every year.

Innovation is what VPs like. Doesn't matter if it is just copying another one's work, or it never makes any contribution.
What are your coworkers at AMD like?
There are some bright guys. They tend to be very political. Most people are average. They are nice on surface. But actually want to get your knowledge and work for their credit. People can talk get promoted. People can work only do the work. So many people impressed me when they talk. When they work, they impressed me again, but at the other end.
How are the career growth opportunities on the Engineering team at AMD?
Career ladder at AMD is finer than other companies. But the promotion opportunity is not that great. Such people tend to grow slower than their counterparts at other companies. In another aspect, work range of positions is very narrow. You have to move to other positions to learn more. And this move is lateral, pushing off your next promotion. Good side, there are many positions, most likely you can find something you can do.
