Executive Bio

Ms. Karla Olson Teasley has been a Vice President of Customer Service at American Water Works Company, Inc. since January 1, 2015 and serves as its Chief Customer Experience Officer. Ms. Teasley served as President of Illinois American Water Company at Indiana American Water Company, Inc. since January 2007. In this role, Ms. Teasley reinforces and strengthens customer, regulatory and local government relationships, drives operational and financial results and is the principal external contact for American Water in Illinois. Ms. Teasley works with regulatory agencies, community officials and customers as part of Illinois American's enhanced local connection, while supporting a continued focus on operational integrity. Ms. Teasley has more than 17 years of experience in the water industry. Prior to joining Illinois American Water, Ms. Teasley served as Vice President of Louisville Water Co. in Kentucky. In this role, Ms. Teasley was responsible for all customer contact functions, as well as business development, capital budget and infrastructure planning and pipeline design and construction. Ms. Teasley served as a Vice President and General Counsel of Florida Water Services (a/k/a Southern States Utilities, Inc.), providing in-house legal services, with heavy involvement in regulatory affairs and business development activities. She serves on the Board of the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois and the Illinois Manufacturers' Association and is a Member of the Board of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Resource Board of the Metropolitan Planning Council and is a Member of the Illinois Business Roundtable, the American Water Works Association (Illinois Section) and the American Bar Association. She earned her Law degree from University of Minnesota Law School and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
