Mr. John Martie has been Head of Consumer and Specialty Business Division at Anthem, Inc. since November 2, 2015. Mr. Martie served as Chief Executive Officer and President of National Accounts Business of WellPoint Inc. (alternate name Anthem, Inc.) since May 2011 until November 2, 2015. Mr. Martie served as President and General Manager at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Colorado since November 2006. Mr. Martie managed small group business (1-50 eligible members) and local large group business (51-999, plus groups with 1,000 eligible members or more where 95 percent of those eligible members reside in a single state). He also oversees the small group and large group underwriting practices areas. He joined Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1997. He was named Regional Vice President of Anthem's southern Ohio sales unit in 2003 and has been responsible for large and small group sales since that time. Prior to his appointment as Regional Vice President of southern Ohio sales in 2003, Mr. Martie had served as Executive Director for Anthem's Large Group Underwriting department. Before joining Anthem, he spent 13 years at Cigna Corp. in various Underwriting management roles. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he was appointed to the Public Schools Health Care Advisory Committee and the Ohio Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2005; in 2006, he was appointed to the Warren County United Way Board of Directors.
