Constant layoffs during Gail's tenure. Not a company you will likely retire from. Years of service are not recognized as a positive. Higher salary puts a target on your back.
I think this company is degusting with how the limit of healthcare they provide for the customers and fights every healthcare needs of the customer all the while increasing insurance rate for us to pay. I am diabetic and this company is horrible with helping me in healthcare.

How are layoffs handled in the IT department at Elevance Health?

Full time employees are being replaced with foreigners from India for cheaper wages. American workers are the minority. Constant reorganization’s and lay-offs due to mismanagement of money, no team environment, no training, male chauvinist environment. They don’t care about the FTE associate. Not a good place to work for. Look elsewhere!
More layoffs coming soon for Anthem people! Start looking for a job elsewhere before you’re given a pink slip. Not a great company to work for.
I haven't seen any layoffs of full time associates, only contracted workers. Occasionally, a senior leader has been "asked" to leave, but a hefty severance package is usually involved.

Very fast paced and the culture varies by team. Things change constantly in the health care industry and there are often very tight turnaround times.
Anthem is a very diverse company. I enjoy the fact that there are many different kinds of people with many different kinds of backgrounds that I am able to personally interact with each day.
A tad fragmented... Lots of divisions that don't always talk with each other

As far as pay, they seem to be on the high end of compensation compared to other health insurance companies.

On the IT side of things they are starting to tighten down on it. Mostly as a response to abuse. Still its often up to the discretion of direct managers...
