How employees describe working at UnitedHealth Group
This a great place to work.
Great job working as a team
Review from Marketing Dept
Great place to learn and Grow!
The company totes that doctors run the company, but not true. Administrators have no idea what is going on beneath them, and do not even consider the advice or concerns of individual departments. They make broad rules, with no compassion for their employees or patients. Horrible benefits as well
like any other company in the us

What benefits does UnitedHealth Group provide?
Top Employee Response
A pretty wide variety. 401k matching, Stock option purchase at discount, PTO (pro-rated based on how long you've been here), Salary/Bonus, United giving campaign and matching, cell line discounts (some providers), access to tons of training resources and books. Pretty costly insurance plans however.
The medical is okay but it's not great. Currently the plan without an HSA covers 80% of eligible expenses after satisfying a $1100.00 deductible. This plan is known as "Network Select." Preventive- 100% of eligible expenses due to ACA The emergency room is a $500.00 copay then 80/20. Specialist copay is $50.00 copay Prescription is part of the medical deductible. And goes by tiers for the brand of drug that is prescribed (I have never used the rx and I have been a part of the company for over four years Please keep in mind that I work in NYS and different states offer different plans, but they don't differ much at all. I pay roughly $60.00 a month for the medical insurance Dental is $28.00 a month, very standard dental plan. Copay is $40.00 Vision is $4.00 a month, very standard as well. Covers up to $180.00 for frames once every two years. Contacts have some coverage but I don't wear them so I'm not privy to that information. Employee discounts is what makes the BP good.

If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at UnitedHealth Group?
Top Employee Response
End matrix management. Ineffective and insular. Arrogance toward customers is rewarded.
Set up a diversity program that is honestly diverse and not just provides lip service as so many of them seem to do.
STAND BY OUR MISSION and CULTURE STATEMENTS and not veer from them like I see happening all too frequently. Gets worse as be get bigger instead of getting better. Very sad. I used to be so proud of working here but as more time goes by the less proud I am and thinking of moving to a competitor who has head hunted to seek me out via my networking sites. I'm giving my current employer six months and if things don't improve, I speak out, then I'll be leaving to go to our biggest competitor.

Be a sales person
You need to have good boundaries; if you work 40 hours a week they'll give you 50 hours of work. If you then start working 50 hours of work they'll give you 60. You also need to be respectful of the people you work with; your colleagues are all over the world, in a whole bunch of different situations, and almost all of them are just trying to feed their families. They're people, not rungs on a ladder.
