What's the company culture like at Appian?

Many companies say their culture meritocracy but then you get in and realize that's a batch of lies. Appian is a true meritocracy. Management always want to help and try to help. People genuinely are interested in what you're doing and try to create opportunities for employees to help each other. Its young, its vibrant, its still very start-up-y, but not without the recklessness of the stereotypical startup. Appian is a great place to be.
It's incredible. It's what I've been looking for my entire career. First of all, there is a culture of generosity and you can count on any of your coworkers to step up and help out in a pinch. Then there is also a great culture of learning and respect. And we also move very fast, which makes the strong culture even more impressive.
Culture is great! Everyone is very dedicated to the company mission and product and is very zealous about contributing to the company's growth. Dress code is pretty casual, snacks can be found on every floor, engineering has a cove for video games. Overall it's a work hard play hard kind of place and everyone you meet is smart, driven, and excited to be here.
What is Appian's long term (post-Covid) remote work policy?
Forced return to work three days a week if you are within 50 miles of an office. Home office stipend no longer offered. Company has stated they will be checking for badge swipe in to confirm attendance or punishment. Company has also stated no assigned desks and not enough desks to cover the forced to return employees.
How are layoffs handled in the Engineering department at Appian?
I know that there were some layoffs before I joined, but in the last 5 or so years there haven't been any. If an employee is terminated due to performance or behavior, it is handled professionally and privately.
How's the vacation policy at Appian?
Vacation policy is good. Starts out at 15 days and bumps up to 18 and then 20 after a set number of years. All PTO carries over at the end of the year.
