Arcellx has many positives. People are smart and friendly. There is a lot of great science and we are developing promising therapeutics. However, the experience is marred by dividing the company unnecessarily into two sites which lacks cohesion and harms the culture. Leadership is too isolated.
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
Joining Arcellx has been the greatest professional experience of my life. I feel this company is a part of me. The people here are truly special and feel like family. To see the company go from a start-up to a successful biotech with a best-in-class product is like living in a dream.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The health care premium is paid for by the company.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They care about making the company successful. They do solicit input and listen to feedback.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
It is supportive and managers want people to be successful. People are friendly and work well together.
What makes you most happy at work?
Working with people who I care about and care about me is a privilege that I will never take for granted. To do great work that helps people live longer, healthier lives is truly rewarding.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Pay and bonuses lag behind other biotechs. Titles also are not consistent with many other biotechs leaving people with titles that sound more junior than the person's actual position. The health insurance benefit is fantastic and a standout for the company.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Outstanding, brilliant, kind and caring individuals who show up to work every day wanting to excel. I cannot think of a better team to be a part of. Everyone works well together, there are no egos that get in the way of doing work.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The research team is full of smart, creative, friendly people who enjoy what they do and enjoy working together. The research team functions extremely well, is not territorial, and is focused. Independence is encouraged and each person is valued. The work is exciting and impactful.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My team is extremely smart and very down to earth. Everyone is approachable and genuinely a decent person. People are not secretive and readily collaborate on projects. People also help each other. My team and my direct manager are excellent and make working at Arcellx a pleasure.
What makes you most happy at work?
The people I work with make me happy. We work hard but also have a lot of fun together. We support each other and genuinely care about each other. I also appreciate that my manager is both brilliant and a decent and kind person who makes me feel valued.
