The knowledge, expertise, experience and professionalism truly runs from the top down and I feel fortunate to have an opportunity to be working with this group of individuals!

What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Everything, other than the CCO. These aren't leaders, these are used car salesmen, no ability to listen, stop the nepotism (definition includes favoritism) is detrimental to everything. Stop hiring more directors and up and appreciate those you have, hire more associates.

Avalon has always had a family-first policy. Wellness checks are required as a part of our 1x1 meetings. We instituted an EAP and expanded our PTO program. We've paid spot bonuses and paid out our annual bonus for 2021 at 77% over target.
Start to appreciate workers and stop firing employees
While the pace at Avalon is fast, we do take the opportunity regularly to appreciate and reward our employees. We aren't in the business of regularly firing employees without multiple chances to improve.

I feel that my salary is competitive and that I am compensated well! We have an extensive and inclusive benefits package.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Prevent HR from forcing a bell curve on reviews. It just means that you need to fit nicely into a statistical group so they can give themselves raises and bonuses and not the "underlings"
Yes. Pay actual market value. HR changes the wording in job descriptions or titles on their own to make salaries fit what they believe employees do and they have the least amount of knowledge in the company.
maybe pay us market value instead of having HR lie and say we are pId market value. There is a think cLled the internet it's easy to look things up there.

It is true that we have not had a regular salary increase cadence, but we pay at market and will pay for performance.

As a full time working mom of 2 small children I very much appreciate the balance and flexibility this job provides for me and my family. My leadership and coworkers are supportive and SMEs in their field.

My team consists of a diverse swath of people, they each bring their own unique perspectives and talents to the table.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Either hire people with better skills, requiring better interviewing skills in management, or get people training. The people who do have the skills are pulling all the work while the ones who don't goof off.
It's not them but the leaders not making an environment where they can succeed.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?

Everyone here is willing to do the work and get the job done. Great small company vibe and a breath of fresh air coming from a mega corporation previously!

What needs to change to make the company culture better?
There has been a lot of turnover and it makes me nervous that there will continue to be a lot of lost employees and terminations so I do not feel secure in my role
Care about your employees at least a little bit.
This company has no culture other than nepotism.
Avalon has a policy of no nepotism and there are no employees working here that are direct relatives.
What did you like most about the interview process?
personable, actually asked pertinent questions about knowledge pertaining to position
Hours before my scheduled interview, it had to be moved. understand timing conflicts or something imperative came up, but I felt like I was undervalued and wish I had some sort of explanation and transparency
On-site interview gave you a chance to see what the office vibe was like.
Everything was very clear and straightforward. HR people are SO nice!
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
Be consistent across the board and keep information confidential.
While Avalon prides itself on being a very transparent company, we would never reveal confidential information in an interview setting.

The people I work with and the mission of our company. I strongly believe that we are making a difference and I feel lucky to be a part of that change.
Working alongside motivated people all aiming for the same mission
Getting the chance to collaborate with new people and teams within the company. Solving new problems.
My teammates are great but overworked.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Leadership is not made up of leaders so basic things fail and then become bigger issues hourly. They can't listen because they feel all answers must come from them, and they have little to no skill, so associates suffer. Let those that know what they are doing do their job and just back off.

Healthcare is a highly regulated industry, and at no point would Avalon lie to it's clients. Our employees and our clients are why we exist. No client has ever cut ties with Avalon. We have a 100% retention rate, and all clients serve as references
